Exacerbation over one month now

Hello all. I've had an exacerbation for over one month now. I cannot walk at all, I can't raise either knee, I feel like I'm going down and my legs are getting weaker and weaker. I've tried oral and IV antibiotics to kill whatever infection was going on in my body, I took oral prednisone (500 mg per day for 3 days) and I just started solumedrol infusion today and will do that for 3 days. It used to work phenomenally but toward the end it makes me feel worse and I become much more weak. My whole body is numb up to my stomach. I am able to work because my patients are brought to my office so I'm thankful for that. My mother in law passed away in a head on car accident about a week before Christmas and it was very stressful with my father in law, and my wife with 7 of her siblings really have a hard time with this tragedy. I have not been sleeping well. Ok, enough complaining. Things will get better, that is my plan ok?

Hey Doc

So sorry to hear about your lousy exacerbation - and about your mum-in-law. Hoping there is a bright star on your horizon.

Sleep well - and thinking of you and your family

(((((DocT))))), sending my healing hugs to you. Sounds like you may need
some Rehab time, in hospital. Did me a world of good. See what your
Neoro thinks.

So Sorry for Your Family's pain from the unexpected death of a loved one.
What a sad Christmas you must have had.:hug:

It might be owrth getting an MRI of the spine to see if there is a partial TM (transverse myelitis). That caused similar symptoms for me a few years back.
Epidural steroids helped me with it.

With love, Erika

Thank you all for your input. GREAT NEWS! I did my third day of sol umedrol today. I took one gram of liquid steroid and as of today my legs are lifting up, my balance is much better and I walked to the bathroom without an assistance! I do not mean to sound braggadocios but I am very grateful for this HUGE improvement. Maybe it was the healing hug Sally. Thank you. I am blessed and God is good! I want to walk more and more but I'm going to try to keep myself from going too fast too quickly. I want to keep you posted. Thank you for listening and supporting. It means a lot to me. :)

Following my 3rd days, I was walking, balancing and feeling wonderful. I finished Thursday and was fine on Friday. By Friday evening, I returned from work, ate dinner and could barely stay awake so I sent to bed. When my lay my head on my pillow the pain in my neck, the skill sensitivity really hurt me all night long. The next day I could barely force myself to get out of bed. I tried and tried and finally stumbled into the living room. That day my walking continued to get worse. I am about to sleep because I am exhausted. I'm afraid things will return to how they were before my steroid infusion. Work is coming tomorrow. I will update everyone. Things might settle down. We shall see. Good night all

Awwww good night Doc. I hope tomorrow will be much better.

Doc-

My experience w solumedrol (1 gram a day for 3 or more days) is that I improve and feel great on it. Once it is removed, all of my symptoms- including the ones I was taking it for w old ones thrown in- come back. It takes me about 6 weeks to recover.

Best to you,
ANN
