MrsD - your top five?

MrsD, earlier you wrote:

Yes it is a typo. I have that book and
Saw that. It is not surprising from a doctor who just
Doesn't understand nutrients. Poor proof reading
Too. Oral B12 really does not deliver much at 500mcg
So 1000mcg is better.

Since I am new to NP (feet - tarsal tunnel syndrome was DX once - numb, tingly, pain, cold, clumsey, etc...) and his book was the first I read by an MD, i figured his supplement list of his 'top 5' would probably be a good place to start.

However, since you wrote that he 'doesn't understand nutrients' would ya/could ya - list your top 5 supplements? I had all of his five in a shopping cart at an online store . . . ready to purchase . . . but then the typos in the book and your thoughts about the author's knowledge regarding nutrients . . . I didn't hit the purchase button. His recommended 5 still sit in my cart until I get more/better information.

Thank you very much.

Dean

She is away on Vacation, so her Internet time is limited.

You might be able to find something of what you are asking about by doing a forum search-
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/search.php

Or perhaps in the sticky threads.

Have you had any recent blood work up?
The reported levels might help to show what you are low in.

Everyone is different. There are over 100 causes for PN and people vary genetically.

A person with malabsorption issues or
The MTHFR mutation or pre-diabetes, or
Toxin induced PN, etc all vary in approach.

As far as "most common nutrient deficiencies"
They are;
Magnesium
Omega-3
B12
Folate (non methylators)
Vitamin D
Activated B6
Thiamin
Other B's in the complex
Zinc
Vitamin E
Others for specific people with specific chemistries

And that is only the most common nutrients.

The are many other things used as supplements
Like ALA, carnitine, Co-Q-10, which the body makes for itself
And might be needed if that fails for some
Reason.
