Does vision therapy help?

Hello my family want to figure out if vision therapy helps or is right for me. I cannot watch tv, play video games, and spend very small amount of time on the computer. I am light sensitive and wear sunglasses in doors.

I can read about 13 min but thats it and when i try to do other things mentioned on here i have a hard time after a while. Painting, drawing or even watching nature after a small period of time bother me. Got some great ideas last week but i am having a hard time trying them out (like crochet) because i have a hard time concentrating.

Those that know of or have done vision therapy, will it work for me? I do not have any other vision problems except light sensitivity, and i am near sighted.

You should get tested by a vision therapist. Only a therapist can answer your question.

What happens when you try to do the things you mentioned ?

Well Mark i get an anxious feeling in my head. Like anxiety but i am not anxious. Is like my brain and eyes cannot take the visual stimulus. Thats actually how i regressed. Before i wasnt so light sensitive until i saw a color band on a computer while i was doing a diagnostic test and i felt a jolt of energy to the back of my head.

Other things are i get sometimes migraines. Or i become very light sensitive where even sunglasses do not help. Thats why i cannot stay on the computer long and answer any comments promptly. (like yours) Just overall frustrating

I remembered there were quite a number of threads posted in the past regarding light sensitivity and working at the computer.

I found a couple of them that xanadu posted.

What about the other activities ? It sounds like you may need to change your display setting to see if that helps. Have you tried using f-lux to change the screen brightness ?

I find that I do not tolerate High Definition TV screens for very long. I have no problem with standard definition TV. I also get fatigue when there are too many graphics on a news or sports program, especially when those graphic are moving or changing.

I have the same issue. I am sensitive to visual stimuli, but I do not have vision issues that vision therapy can address. My brain cannot handle a lot of stimulus, whether it be visual or auditory.

You should see an eye specialist who specializes in brain trauma. They gave me special glasses with prisms, and they help a lot.

Definitely agree with Mark from Idaho - regular optometrist did not find anything. Vision therapy is helping me with some of my symptoms.

Allday310,

I think I have the same problem...is it hard to focus on someone's face on the tv and when flashing commercials you can't keep up...

If so let me know if it gets better
