Had the block this morning

Haha I now know what you guys meant about my throat! Ouch and I can't talk! Bet my husband likes that lol! I also have an asthmat feel with a cough. had the block about 3 hours ago. The burning is in my thumb still, not all the way to my elbow though, I have swelling in the thumb and my joints still hurt to move and use, but im assuming this injection isn't for bone pain from joint damage that has occurred..I'm just starting to feel some warmth in my arm near my wrist. The ice cold feeling is gone...

I'm really hoping this works, am I supposed to be pain free if it did work? I wasn't expecting no pain. I'm gonna use my hand a bunch and even do a haircut after occ therapy later this afternoon and will update. :) heck even if some pain is gone that's good!
Edited to ask if having trouble getting a good breath is par for the course, I believe it was c6 for the area they injected...

I find Werther's Originals work well on my throat.

So about 6 hours after the injection I started getting my old nerve pain with the joint pain but it isnt constant. Here's what I found awesome,

In ot Monday soft touch set off a crazy pain response so he could hardly do anything in the way of massage. Today I had paraffin dip, followed by massage and then ultrasound! I had some pain but was able to enjoy it (I was itchy for some reason so it was soothing) as I talked to my daughter while trying to ignore painful areas :) weirdly I can see my plump hand veins at this moment, I haven't seen them in a while!! (just finished therapy few mins ago) i think I can deal with thus, with my gabapentin. Probably not gonna go work in a barber shop but normal life stuff I hope this lasts. Some pain is better than all pain!

That you responded positively can actually confirm the diagnosis of RSD/CRPS (if it was in question).

Will it last do you think? my therapist told me today he thinks I have torn tendons in my hand that are what could have caused this. He's writing a note about his suspicions. Who knows. Bottom line sounds like it's the monster. Still hoping for it not to be.
Do most people become fully pain free with their crps with these?

You haven't had an MRI? It wouldn't hurt to explore--and you could have both. I often think an underlying issue will exacerbate CRPS. (I had reconstructive surgery on my wrist that can't be fixed, and I think my creative new anatomy has been a big part of my problem.)

I don't believe there is data. Those that have a block or series of blocks go back to living their life and don't post on places like NT. Some docs will claim they have lots of patients that have gone into remission from blocks, and then you have to question were they correctly diagnosed in the first place?

I tend to think you do have a good shot. Keep using it, but don't over do it. Think of Goldilocks...

I would also encourage you to use any other strategies that seem to help as well.

Thank you! I will keep that in mind :) I'm trying to stave off the claw hand :)
No mri. I want one. I really suspect there is damage to a mecanical structure that started this mess. I think it's not new either. But I was sent from Ortho to one of the top hand soecialists in a and who knows where else. So his dish Isis and instant suspicion (and bone scan) have everyone telling me he knows his stuff and how he is so skilled. I think that's why I am also getting great treatment but it's also making them just go off what he said as its gospel. Yes I am sure I have Crps but I think there is more that's been missed.

Holy cow I woke up this morning bumbled out to the kitchen for my tylenol I take first thing every morning, and thought something is missing! Fire! My hand is like 89-90 better! What the heck! Even my joints feel a bit better. Still ice water sensation but wow I am so happy about this!

Jennijojo 06-05-2015 03:12 PM

Kinda bummed, went two days with hardly any pain. It is getting hot here and that's usually a trigger for increased pain and further up my arm...well the pain and swelling is back..and having it gone makes it feel all the worse. Guess I was kinda getting used to hurting because it caught me by surprise. This stuff is awful!
I'm hoping its a fluke? I don't understand why it worked for two days then boom. I did do a lot with my hand but I was told to do this and do what aggravates it.

What does this mean? Will another block work? Is this common?
Thanks for any info or ideas!
