help with supps

my pn stems from 2 known causes...chemo & type 2 diabetes. i have been off my supplement regimen for about 2 years and now want to resume it.

i need help with whether to take these with or without food:

folate
r lipoic acid
benfotiamine
(qunol)coq-10
vitamin d3
curcugel

i read recently that L carnitine is contraindicated in cardiac patients so i do not plan to re-introduce it.

if there are any supps that i might add to the list, please feel free to let me know.
thanks for your advice!

I would reconsider carnitine..... Here is an explanation of that new "research" putting into perspective the chemical truth:

page 2.

I don't recall if you had the 23andme DNA methylation testing?
This would be critical for anyone with heart disease.

i have not had 23andme DNA methylation testing. i have seen references to this but for some reason thought it did not pertain to my own situation. can you give me site(s) for an explanation of this test? i will also google it asap. [ i just went to 23andme...looks very interesting! i'm going to pursue the testing when i get the kit]

thanks for the oregon state link!

meantime, any info re: with or without food for the supps i plan to resume?

The methylation testing will show if you have mutations that lead to heart disease. The COMT along with the MTHFR, is thought to lead to heart/circulation problems.

This explains better than I can:
http://doccarnahan.blogspot.com/2013...-big-deal.html

The bottom line is that if you have this problem you need methylfolate, and methylcobalamin and perhaps balance some other B's like niacin.

Here is another:
http://mthfr.net/

You can get the test online, for $99 but you have to interpret your results yourself as the FDA has blocked that function for us...nice eh?

It is turning out that the people arriving here and getting this testing are all showing various mutations that seriously affect health.

Back to your list. The Curcugel could now be replaced by the new better curcumin... CurcuBrain by NOW. This has the optimized enhanced absorption developed by LongVida and is actually better that Curcugel, now.. and similar in price. It is available on Amazon. This is the one I am currently using.

nys prohibits its residents from using 23andme testing!

after studying 23's website and getting very psyched, i read that nys will not let residents either 1) gather the saliva specimen in nys nor 2) mail it within ny borders! so the kit needs to be mailed from out of state and the saliva needs to be collected in a non nys venue!

wth? for an allegedly "progressive" state, ny is so anti scientific knowldge. moreover, although weed will be legal in 2016, i wonder how liberally it will be implemented. this is the state which gave us the draconian rockefeller drug laws and other such monstrosities.

i can mail it from mass. but how in hell can nys monitor where you provide the saliva sample? it's laughable!

i will order the curcubrain tonight. i just need to know what strength to buy and when to take it.

i take 5000 mcg b12 an hour before breakfast. how much methylfolate to take & when?

any particular brands &/or types of niacin i should buy?

thanks for your response.

I can't even ORDER the kit in my "progressive" state of Maryland. I think we're the only one. All direct-to-consumer medical testing is illegal. :(

Direct Client testing Obstacles in Some States

  Wow! Quite a lobby in some of the State legislatures! Every adult ought to be able to access these direct tests in the "Land of the Free!" :( :grouphug:

All the fine doctors at Johns Hopkins might be out of jobs if we can order tests and treat ourselves.

Hi Antonina, you asked:

i need help with whether to take these with or without food:

folate
r lipoic acid
benfotiamine
(qunol)coq-10
vitamin d3
curcugel

I use Methylfolate, Ubiquinol, D3, and Turmeric. The labels say they should all be taken with food.

My labels for Benfotiamine and R Lipoic Acid say to take it with or without food.

Hope this helps!
