Its become a matter of Health

Hi guys.... i guess i posted here several months ago saying i was going to lose weight. i never did get started on that. My bloodpressure is up, my cholesterol is high, and My husband just lost a friend to a massive heart attack. I lost my very best friend back in November with the same thing. They were both overweight. You'd think that would have been motivation....
I'm trying the low fat route. So far i've lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. i'm thinking thats a bit much for 2 weeks, but i think alot of that was water weight. I've got to do this. I read here quite a bit, and you guys are so supportive of each other... ANYWAY i just wanted to pop in and say hello and introduce myself.
Vicky

Good job!

I think I am flunking this forum :o - I gained 3lbs and haven't lost a thing:mad:

Some days I do fine eating wise - but once a week or so - My brain, thyroid or hormones ?? drives me to eat:eek: .
It's like another something has control over my food input. It is so weird- I know I am not hungry but I feel powerless to stop.
At least there isn't much junk food here- I quit buying most of that stuff awhile ago. We aren't big junk food eaters anyway.
Can't wait for our garden to get some ripe veggies - prob have zucchini, lettuces and cucumbers soon:)

But I did clean off our Soloflex and have started using it each evening. Maybe I have to build some muscle to burn that fat!

Oh my goodness jo55.....you and I are BOTH possessed by the MUNCHIE MONSTER...really this happens to me too. When I am finished pigging out it bothers me and I feel incredible guilt! Is that not truly an eating disorder? Keep at the soloflex a little at a time. I try so hard to use my treadmill and I do feel a difference when I keep at it! :)

Congrats on the weight loss. If your lossing anything thats more than me. I don't weigh but my clothes tell me the true story. I am an emotional eater and I have a lot going on right now.

Welcome, Vicky! :)

Do you have any kind of plan? I started Weight Watchers nearly 2 years ago and have lost 93 1/2 lbs. :) I simply can't lose it and keep it off without a good solid plan. It's really the greatest program out there because you learn to change the way you eat. If you're serious about losing for food, check it out at www.weightwatchers.com.

Good luck!

LIZARD :)

HEY BIZI!!!!!!!!!!!!.... i hesitate to tell you this, but we went through your town a few weeks back..... it was rather late at night during some convention and there were no hotels ANYWHERE to be found so we drove on through to the next town to find a place to stay the night. "MY" plan was to get a room and give you a call that evening to at least chat.... but that didn't work out at all..
ANYWAY i'm sorry we couldn't connect this time....

Lizard,
WOW.... 92 1/2 lbs... that is awesome!!!!! i need to drop at least 50. if i'm honest with myself its more like70. but i'll be happy with 50. I have a plan of sorts..... I've started making a menu for the evening, and i've bought low fat, prepackaged stuff for lunch... Breakfast is a bowl of cheerios with a banana in it LOL.... i never eat breakfast so its all i can do to get it down. I just finished my first box this morning.

Dorrie,
Thank you for the welcome, to you to....

jo55,
i just love fresh veggies, my mom has a garden and i've been munching on cucumbers and tomatoes from there alot for supper.

Fancylady,
I'm an emotional eater too. i eat when i'm sad, i eat when i'm happy, i eat especially when i'm angry....I guess i never really learned how to deal with anger, but i wont go into all of that.

Fiberowendy,
Thank you for the welcome  .....Out of curiosity i was wondering something... I dont own a set of scales, i use the ones at the place i work at. I try to avoid the scales actually, but have been weighing once a week. I know there are those who weigh more often and some less. How often do you guys weigh?
{{{HUGS}}} to everybody here.... and again thank you for the warm welcome...

Jomar 07-14-2007 11:57 AM

Well really you can tell by how your clothes are fitting- but I do have a scales in my bathroom. I just get on it once in awhile to double check - i usually know if it will be up or down before I get on it:( .

I guess it depends on if you would get depressed or motivated by seeing the actual weight- it helps to reinforce & motivate me most of the time.
But I haven't lost anything so  .

I really need to up my activity level I'm sure.
