Tmj

Has anyone with PCS or mild TBI been diagnosed with TMJ? If so what kind of treatments have you had?
Thanks

Some of the jaw pain could be due to muscle spasms and trigger points.. are your neck muscles sore or very tight feeling?

I had TMJ and my jaw locked so I could only open a finger width. My physical therapist did some in the mouth myofacial and other treatments to get it unlocked. A doctor has suggested Botox in the the jaw muscles so I could not clinch so hard during my sleep. My PT got so much improvement that I did not do anything further. A TMJ dentist had also suggested a mouth guard/splint but I knew I would gag.

The SSRI (Paxil) I was taking is known for causing jaw clinching. The gabapentin helped me stop the jaw clinching once I got unlocked.

If you jaw clinch or grind your teeth, it may be the cause of TMJ problems.

Health and dental insurance rarely help with treatment costs.
