Has anyone with PCS or mild TBI been diagnosed with TMJ? If so what kind of treatments have you had?
Thanks |

I had TMJ and my jaw locked so I could only open a finger width. My physical therapist did some in the mouth myofacial and other treatments to get it unlocked. A doctor has suggested Botox in the the jaw muscles so I could not clinch so hard during my sleep. My PT got so much improvement that I did not do anything further. A TMJ dentist had also suggested a mouth guard/splint but I knew I would gag.
The SSRI (Paxil) I was taking is known for causing jaw clinching. The gabapentin helped me stop the jaw clinching once I got unlocked. If you jaw clinch or grind your teeth, it may be the cause of TMJ problems. Health and dental insurance rarely help with treatment costs.
