Returning to work suggestions
Hello everyone,
Expanding on my previous post I am trying to return to my previous occupation, I have been doing light duty work for full time hours with relative ease, however now I am running into some issues with my return to full duty which involves high intensity work in the morning (physical and cognitive with stress response) and technical reading in the afternoons, though I can choose how I arrange it. As the week wore on I tended to get a little worse and a little worse, this weekend I slept basically all Friday, had to nap again on Saturday and then Sunday I started to feel well rested, albeit at night I was extremely irritable and tired and headaches almost all weekend. I already feel a bit in deficit but am going to carry on through the week of training. But I meet with my doctor on Thursday to discuss our plan going forward, he is awesome and will basically let me do whatever I need to do So My question is, should I continue to push? (I don't think so but will know more this week) or would it be better to do a couple days of hard training followed by a couple light days then adding more hard days week to week?, or should I maybe do a week of training followed by a week of regular work, that is what I am leaning towards. But I also don't want to be fooled by my own mind, into backing off if I don't need to, this is very confusing and nuanced so thought I would reach out to others with tons of experience. let me know..... Have a good Monday! |
I think you need to listen to your body.
Is this training, job training or is it just testing your body to see it you can do the work you used to do ? There is a difference between returning to old skills and training to learn new skills. The later puts far more load on the brain. What do you mean by 'physical and cognitive with stress response' ? Is the technical reading to acquire new skills/knowledge or to refresh old skills/knowledge ? Did you get sleep during normal hours last week ? It is hard to understand what kind of load and stress you are putting on your body with your cryptic top secret job. |
See what happens.
Something different to us wounded sort can be taxing but we can adapt much as the body to exercise. As Mark said, listen to your body...I believe it will tell you if what you are experiencing is being permanently dragged down or just growing pains. Bud |
