my trip to neuro and whining
Well I survived and it was good to see my ol' doc again. She is still looking for something that will work for me. I asked about new meds/vacines in clinical trials. She say that there are 5-6 down the pike that look "really really promising". (her words) She says that I'd need to be off the Imuran for 3 months before starting anything new, but I'm thrilled with the prospects. The mean nurse says no narcotics (I just want 1/2 vicodin) to help with the constant numbness and tingling and general pain in my hands. Geez what a witch!
I had to do the regulation drunk driver tests and hoop jumping and her evel temporary nurse gave me the big exercise lecture. Yah, yah. I know what I should be doing, but the couch is so comfy. She said to think of it like brushing your teeth, something to be done every day. She said "if you choose not to exercise, don't brush your teeth. Yuck I thought. I'm a brushing fool. So ... Saturday I shopped for 8 hours hitting 11 stores and one restaurant with my friend. I brushed my teeth. :D Today, I spent 2 hours washing my sisters elephant collection(not real ones), until my back started spasming (that really hurts). So I required a 2 hour nap. But golly my back is still screaming at me. Not to mention my ankle from May (when I fell and rolled over the retain wall) is making it really difficult to walk today. Remind me to shop online from now on, will ya! Well, I've whined enough today. What'd you all do this weekend? |
:) Hi Beth,
That was NOT whinning at all. You were just venting a tad and telling us about you neuro visit and weekend of shopping. BTW, did you brush your teeth today????:p I enjoyed reading your post and can relate to much of it but I'm not as ambulatory as you are currently. My big errand for the day is complete. I got dressed, yes, I did brush my teeth, got into the car, drove 2.5 miles to my local grocery store, got my little bit of groceries that I needed, and returned home. I will spent the rest of the day. I did where my Santa hat to the store and really shocked a few little kids with their mom. She wanted to make sure I told them to be good for Christmas as Santa can show up anywhere and anytime. You should have seen how big their eyes got. Man I love this time of year. It makes growing my beard so worth it. |
I love a good monday morning Whine w/ cheese.:p
P.O.RN, it's not her pain. What does Doc say about it? Try Aleve, Beth....It's pretty good. 8 HOURS SHOPPING??? .You deserve every pain you have.....are you crazy :yikes:? .Stick to your couch today and do the rest of any shopping on line. I feel lousy today myself. I think I need to get back on Paxil. I wonder if it would work for me, now that I've been off of it for a year and on Prozac? Prozac helps with depression, but does nothing for my anxiety. Well enough about me.....this is your whine thread and I hear you. I'm glad you got to talk to Doc about Meds for future treatment. Which ones did she especially like? I hope you have a pain free day (even though you don't deserve it:p) |
Hi Beth: Hope today is better for you. This was a bad weekend for me. I was supposed to go to a birthday party and see a christmas show. Today go to my daughters and cook Baked Cheese Mac. for the hunters. But the whole weekend and today I have had nothing but pain and the headaches have caused my vision to be cloudy and blurred. No energy at all. I go to see my Doc. next week. I am on a pain med. Tramadol it helps with the pain. But all of the other symptons that are caused by ms it does not help. Well that is my venting. I do hope that you and everyone else are feeling better. --------Joyce---------

:) Hi Sally,
Prozac is a fizzle med that drops off over time as to its effectiveness. I replace Prozac with 40mg a day of Paxil about two years ago and it has made a real positive difference in my life. I've felt better on Paxil then I ever did on Prozac and don't have the anxiety problem or side effects. You may want to check it out with your PCP. Best to you! ;) |
:) Hi Sally: reading about the meds you take. Have you ever tried Lorazepam? I have been taking it for anxiety for a long time. It has been working for me. When things are bad I take a little more. Everyday I take 1 pill at least. --Joyce--

bad girl
:D Hi Beth...
so you have been a bad girl, running all over shopping and such!! :p Just kidding, but I'm sure you are just worn to a frazzel. I went shopping on Sat also, just 4 stores and lunch, but that did me in, so my friend drove home. But boy did I have a great time. Take care, nap alot, rest, rest, rest and hope to feel better. Aleve doesn't do anything for me in the pain area. Advil doesn't either unless I take a lot of it and that is not good....so....ouch!! My depression/anxiety dr started me on cymbalta I think 9 mos ago, it does help, however when the pain is bad bad, nothing does. Sun morning was beautiful in mid Ill, mild and light wind, I started working in the yard, and then the rain came in and the pain started in more so. But I sure took advantage of the mild temps in the am.:) So go rest and relax and have some cheeze, goes good with whine!! :D Hugs, Geri |
WOW Beth! You are the Woman!! SHopping 8 hrs?? No wonder your'e hurting. You deserve a day or 2 on the comfy sofa!
I tried to shop yest, and after walking what seemed like forever, only came home w/something for me! Hey, what's wrong w/that? But, my back can't take it either. Bah Humbug! How many days do we have yet to endure this mayhem?? take care and hope you are feeling better.:) |
Whinnnnnnnnnning
Beth,
I can't do a lot of anything without my back starting to hurt. But what really helps is support. I bought one of those elastic bands (thats suppose to make you look thinner or make you sweat away the pounds) and wear that when I am overly active. It seems to give my 'lower' back just enough support to help me out. Sally, I take wellbutrin (which I love) with just a smidge of paxil for the anxiety (15mg before bed). I get 30mg tabs and have to cut them in half. This combo seems to work very well for me. I think sometimes a combo is the way to go. I was on Paxil alone for many years but did even better when my doc added Welbutrin. If you feel you felt better taking Paxil, then by all means tell your doc. After a few months on any drug...you know if its working for you or not.:winky: |

I have been on Prozac almost a year now and off the Paxil. I was wondering if the Paxil would work again for me??? I'm going to ask my PCP and see what he thinks. I'm so glad Paxil is working for you....Yes, it was a life saver for me. |
