Judy's Inspiration Alley

well, thought i'd come over here and con't with my inspiration alley update.
that is, my eating and walking thread and my progress.

i had lost 40 lbs but alas, gained 10 back.
i've been super struggling to lose that. if you guys can keep up with the math it will be a miracle. anyone that can will be THE ANIMAL :D

i've been doing this for over a year but this has been my battle all my life.
well, i was normal as a newborn but after that...

i'm independent and drive but my legs have gone downhill. so i started walking on my dreadmill. i started at 2 minutes and i've found out that 8 minutes is my limit. so that's what i do everyday. i put a fun sticker on my calendar for each day i walk and so it goes.

i dropped 2 lbs a few days ago and i'm stable as of this am. i weigh everyday.

i still have to walk and promise i will.
anyone who wants inspiration jump on board.
BUT... NO talk of bad foods AT ALL. too hard for me to keep my strength.

thanks all.
see you in the alley.

DM 01-19-2008 08:39 PM

Ain't she something???

TWEEEEEEEET! I've got my whistle ready, Judy!

NurseNancy 01-19-2008 08:42 PM

thanks DM.

forgot to say that the weight loss has been for health reasons also.
like hypertension and type 2 diabetes.
i'm almost off my BP meds. my BS's are normal. my labwork is almost normal. and i'm off my diabetes med.

woo hoo :D

i'm sure AMN will chime in if i left something out.

Judy

Yay! This feels mighty cozy, right here.:welcome_sign:

Judy and I share the lifetime battle of the bulge and we have worked together, along with a few others to encourage her and to offer support on a daily basis.

Anyone who knows this battle is encouraged to join us in putting Fatgirl in her grave and helping SkinnyButt prevail!

Judy has an IRON WILL when she wants it and I have made it my mission to push her along to her goal.

*TWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

VACATION'S OVER! GET YOUR BUTT ON THAT DREADMILL NOW!!!!!!

*smacking dm on the back*

Dangit! If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times, wear the lanyard!

Golly, dear Judy, I don't think we have a custom user titles option here. You can put it in your signature line like FG said.

Hey, you have to figure out what your password is, missy!

Curious 01-19-2008 09:00 PM

it's preset by doc. goes by the number of posts you make.
he made mine just for me...cuz i'm special. :p

DM 01-19-2008 09:01 PM

Yeah, what they said, Judy~

*wiping slimy whistle off on AMN's back*

SallyC 01-19-2008 09:10 PM

Oh Noooooooooo!!! Does this mean I have to lose the 30 lbs I gained, over the last 4 yrs. It's sooooo comfy now.

The good news is that I actually lost 60 lbs and only gained a measly 30 back....Can I stay, please? I promise not to talk about fattening foods, if you promise not to force me to eat rice cakes. I like broccoli..:D

Ok, so whats the drill?

:Wave-Hello: Hi, Judy! I'm glad you started your thread here

NurseNancy 01-19-2008 10:54 PM

sally,
don't worry about the 30 lbs gained (hoo ha, listen to me spouting advice).
just start from today. you're halfway there. 1 more lb and you'll be further to than further from.

sure, come aboard for the ride. it's bound to be bumpy.

NurseNancy 01-19-2008 10:54 PM

duh me,

so how do i get my password?

doydie 01-19-2008 11:31 PM

So does this mean I need to get my butt over to Curves where I have ben paying dues to for over a year and never gone?

Taffy 01-19-2008 11:41 PM

Ok Judy, sounds like you have fresh blood here to keep you going!

I'm with ya! (holding Judy's hand)

greta 01-20-2008 10:48 AM

Judy-
That's so awesome to be off almost all your meds! What an accomplishment. DH and I have been working hard since Oct/Nov. He has about 60# to lose total. I have about the same (we'll see how I feel when I get close) ;)

As of today, I'm down 18 pounds. All I'm doing is walking and eating well. I feel bad for DH because I lose faster than him, but he's working much harder at it (running 3-4 miles/day). I've asked him to start back up with his food log because I think he's eating more than he realizes. I'm making him lunch and dinner every day and I think he's sticking with it, but there's got to be something somewhere that's slowing him down. I did read that beta blockers can slow your metabolism quite a bit, so I'm sure that's not helping him. I hope we can figure it out soon so he doesn't get discouraged.

Ask the moderators to give you a new one! That way you won't have to worry about it!

It's all those coach roaches and gee-dunk machines at work Greta!

Seriously, what do they do when he gets his annual physical? I know when PODH was in the Navy, his physical was a joke...of course, he was a pilot and he didn't want to know much (you know, if they can see your breath on the mirror etc)....I finally made him get a real physical and his cholesterol/trig were sky high! So I knew that he was not eating right.

Anyway, I digress (as usual). I hope both of you can get back on track. I know how hard you've worked!

Ok, Judy! Walking today????

Nah, this is all about encouraging each other to stick to our objectives. In my case, it's about staying in the size 16 jeans, that's good enough for me. In dear Judy's case, it's about getting into some skinny jeans and walking to keep her legs.

In dm's case... well, it's um... I think she... maybe it... uh, it seems that... So! how much is tea in China today???

How goes it this day, dear Judy????

SandyC 01-20-2008 05:03 PM

I would like to lose 10-15 lbs right now. I am at my max weight for my height. No teasing, I am serious. My cholesterol is high, trigs high, borderline sugars. Then last doctor appointment? He tells me my liver enzymes are high! UGH You get the picture.

Now, I bought a treadmill last year and an eliptical this year. I swear they will not become clothes hangers!

Today I ate a lunchable. I know, but I only ate the crackers and meat and sipped the juice. No candy, no junk thus far. That is good for me. Objectives are being met.

Thanks Judy for allowing so many of us to travel in your journey.

yeahbut 01-20-2008 05:49 PM

Judy - Judy - Judy I found you!! I was sooooo worried about our "SkinnyButt" but, I am glad you found your way to friends!

I am here to cheer you on to victory! :D:D

i walked just now.
i'm so tired i can hardly think straight.
i went to take my vits and Ca, which i did. but horrors, i also swallowed my sleep meds for tonite. now i have to go to bed. God knows when i'll wake up.

did i say i'm a mess.
i'll get coherent tomorrow and get my skinny butt in gear.

Now I'm at the minimum height for my weight. If I had to duck going thru doorways like RiverWild, I'd be just right!!!

sassy 01-20-2008 11:17 PM

Hi Judy!

Hey, I think I may have happened onto the right MB. I see there is a cafe, an MS board and a weight loss forum.

So between your daily inspiration and the other forum I might start back on the treadmill.

AfterMyNap 01-20-2008 11:36 PM

Quite right, Sassy, there is a weightloss support forum here: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum42.html

tovaxin_lab_rat 01-21-2008 01:01 AM

Hey Judy! I love Cheerios! Tomorrow is another day! Let's get you back on track. ;)

don't listen to those other whiners [tune them out - only good vibes!]

NurseNancy 01-21-2008 09:32 AM

thanks for the kind words all. i feel like i don't deserve them tho.
i did gain the 4 lbs. i just have to deal with that fact and move on from here.
i'm not taking cindy's advice and must go to bed when i take my pills. if i wait i'm asleep in the chair and will mindlessly eat.

i did walk.

i must have gone to bed about 1830 last nite. woke a few times and went back to bed. now i've been up since 0500 and hope to get my habits on track. nap later. i did not eat all nite tho even when i was awake. that's a good start.

i'll check back later.
thanks for the great welcome.
