I don't quilt, I just started to sew. I love sewing, so I'm thinking about learning to quilt. Did you pick it up on your own, or did someone teach you? Is there any special equipment you need to do it?

I am a quilter and love working with beautiful fabrics. I have only been quilting for a few years, trying to remember when I started. I am probably the world's slowest quilter, but I really enjoy it.

I just got a longarm Gammill machine a couple of months back and am attempting to learn how to use it.

Quilting can be very relaxing-I think it is a great prescription for getting one's mind off of their health issue... Try it... It is addictive!!! Then you can have a fabric stash like me... :)

I don't think you have to do anything special to learn how to quilt. You can buy a beginner's book and probably do very well this way. My friend and I took a beginning quilt class though, and learned a lot of the basics in this manner.

Learning to use a longarm, I think, is going to be a horse of a different color... I will need more instruction than the books offer...

Hey Blue! I think you would fit right in the quilting world! :D

I learned to quilt from a good friend of mine, who has since died. What she taught me was invaluable. You certainly can learn on your own. Look in the library for quilting books and start playing! Or look into taking a beginner's class at a quilt shop or sewing center.

I prefer handquilting, but also do machine (not the long arm like Yorkiemom!) I don't have space for that machine! machine quilting, I found is really good for quilts that will be washed a lot (kid use type stuff).

I hand piece and machine piece. I used to never be found without some handwork! I'd like to get back in that habit!

Quilting is so much more of a therapy than you can ever imagine!

I have quilted in the past...the last was about 5 years ago...I think it is time for a new one.

I want to do my bedroom in Tuscan...I was thinking of making the comforter in rich green, burgundy, gold Tuscan designs. I found some beautiful fabric but wasn't enough...so I am looking for more...

I like to use a serge machine when possible for quilting...it just makes it easier on the hands when all those squares need to be squared. lol

Bird...where do you live now...I think you moved from one state to another...right?

I FINALLY started on 2 quilted stockings I was going to have done for Christmas 2007....whoops a little late! But I so enjoy sewing and quilting.

You really have jump started my interest. I'm going to the library today to get a book on quilting. I really love sewing.(just finished curtains for 2 rooms). I'm going to start small with scraps I have around the house. If I'm any good at it, then I'm going for a bedroom quilt. Thanks for giving me the suggestion and encouragement!!
