Achy Breaky Body
Am I just getting old or is the change from Summer to Fall, giving me these aches and pains? It seems like every move I make hurts like heck.
I sound like and organ grinder when I move....Oooh, Ouch, Whine, Grouch, Cry, Moannnnnnn!! Scsares the Dog.:D .Not funny! Anyone else, here, 90 going on 99? Is it my MS kicking up or is age and experience, now, my enemy? Whine, Biotch, Gripe, Groan...... |
My experience
Fall is the start of my extra stiffness in my joints. For now, I lay under a blanket and the warmth helps.
Once winter hits I wear high top, light weight tennis shoes, a light jacket when going out and a light weight blanket is on our bed. I use an electric blanket on the couch set on 'low'. I too take Baclofen... |
Sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable!
Do you do stretching exercises? They say it helps for arthritis and for MS. I hope you get some relief. |
I hope you feel better soon Sally. I've been really achy lately too. I take more pills and meds now at 48 than my Dad took at 92.

Thanks All, and I'm sorry that you are achy too.:(
I took 2 asprins, layed down and I felt a little better. I don't take a lot of Meds, Ewizabeth, just Paxil and LDN. That may have to change, if Arthur-Itis is coming for a visit. BBS, I do stretch, when I think about it, but sometimes I stay in one position way longer than I should. I know that's a no no, but I forget, when I'm on my PC or watching TV. I agree 0357, I think the change in weather is effecting me too. Sometimes I can be warm enough, but my legs and feet will be cold. At night, I sleep with a comforter and let my feet stick out.:D I'm glad I'm not alone, but sorry we all have to suffer..KWIM? Hugs, |
It's old age, Sally! ;)
I'll be 56 in December, and I make so much noise when I move I SOUND like an antique! |
Oh dear Sally,
I always have an increase in symptomology when the weather changes in the slightest, and we live in a warm climate. I hope that's all it is. Have they been changing any of your meds around recently? The last time we had communicted, you were thinking of switching your AD's. I just read that you are still on Paxil, but have you gone onto any other medications recently? Have you ever tried any type of aqua aerobics? I do hope you feel better soon. Feeling achy on top of having MS must be awful. Hugs to you my dear. Chris |
Exercising while swimming
Chris has an excellent idea; exercising in water with a trained therapist. Check with your local NMSS chapter and see if your area has free swimming classes with trained therapists. I used to do this when I had more energy and I benefitted greatly from it.

I love to swim and to exercise in water, but alas, I am to proud to allow myself to be seen in a bathing suit.
I used to be this slim trim hotty in a suit, but some of the sand in my hourglass figure has shifted...and someone backed a truck full of sand and dumped it on me. ROFL!!! You know what I did? I turned the A/C back on and that really helped. Even though it was only 50 outside, it was 70 in the house with ferosious(sp) humidity seeping in. I'll be happy when winter finally gets here. Thanks for all your fine ideas. :) |
I too have been super creaky of late. I have had spasticity issues and started Baclofen which maybe? helps. The cold makes it much worse. I helped Lazurus (Linda) at the farmers' market this morning and I got so chilled my legs locked up. Still having a hard time walking (and we're going out in a bit. Bummer) I took a hot shower and a Baclophen which has made me sleepy. I'm swimming, stretching and doing pt and yet...48 going on 90.
All to say, I can relate. -Susan |
