They're Having Fun at OBT
See http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/...?t=2017&page=2 for a great example of why this forum will do well. Also for a great example of overkill and heavy handedness, plus a great example of why moderators shouldn't be anonymous (and probably a great example of several other things as well).

Can't access your link. In which forum is the thread?
|
Hmmm, explanation now required
OBT moderator #3 butchered the original thread and posts referenced above and posted a ridiculous warning to the users , but now the thread is totally gone. Mod #3 must read this forum - probably didn't like being used as an example of a desk-thug.

If you are having any problems at OBT please send either PM or email to Mr. Lester.
Here at Neurotalk we have no control on what other forums chose to post, edit or delete.. Hugs |
I normally don't even read OBT, let alone post there (only ended up there due to a link on a post at Build-UK) so I have no "problems at OBT". On the other hand, I didn't know talking about OBT (or any other forum) was off-limits here. Is that a policy here?

We just want members to know that we are not affiliated with OBT and have no control on what happens there...:) Any concerns on any forum should be brought to the attention to the moderator or admin on the forum in question hugs |
I think it's clear that you're not affiliated and don't have any "control on what happens there". I don't think my posts caused confusion on that matter. But my posts were not due to any "concern" about OBT. They were due more to the humor and irony of it (which may be in the eye of the beholder, but none-the-less . . ). You have to know many people are here due, in part, to OBT's moderating policies. So I will now raise a concern - if it's not a violation of the TOS here, why all the moderator involvement?

Hi TerraFirma! It's good to meet you.
I apologize for the confusion of multiple moderator posts as they were both posting at the same time. It is not against guidelines to talk about BrainTalk, and none of the posts were meant as any sort of warning. Any type of "warning" or correction would be discussed privately with the member as to protect their privacy and respect their positions within the community. We understand that people will sometimes still talk about BrainTalk. That's OK. At the same time, we're working hard as a whole to build this community and hope to focus on this community and its need/wants for the most part. It doesn't mean that some might not have concerns they need to discuss, though. Moderators are members as well. Being such, not every post is in the official capacity and I know it can be hard to distinguish that difference sometimes. Alot of times, moderators post as members. If there's an official concern, there would be specific direction via PM. I'm sorry for the confusion. I can understand how multiple responses gave the wrong impression here. It wasn't the intention. If you have any additional concerns or comments, don't hesitate to PM me. We're looking forward to making NeuroTalk the best place it can be and I'm glad you're here! KD |
Hi Kimmydawn,
I just wanted to say that I like the rules and guidelines here. It is spelled out so no one has to second guess how moderation is handled. I think the Mission Statement is excellent as well...key word "civil". I did not find this at the "other place"...so this website is like a breath of fresh air. I very much like the fact that if a moderator finds something objectionable, they will PM you privately...that is how it should be! Great job! |
Thank you, Kathi! It's good to meet you!
Don't ever hesitate to ask about concerns and PM me anytime you might ever need. Again, it's good to meet you. :) KD |
