Re: Michael Phelps (the Olympic Swimmer)

I just copied this from my local home page on the internet....

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael Phelps

"According to the NY Post, the Olympic swimming sensation eats... 12,000 calories per day.

Here's what a days food intake looks like:

...three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise.

He follows that up with two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelet, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar and three chocolate-chip pancakes.

At lunch, Phelps gobbles up a pound of enriched pasta and two large ham and cheese sandwiches slathered with mayo on white bread - capping off the meal by chugging about 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

For dinner, Phelps really loads up on the carbs - what he needs to give him plenty of energy for his five-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week regimen - with a pound of pasta and an entire pizza.

Apparently he "washes all that down with another 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks".

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Now here's Melody's question:

WHY IS THS MAN NOT DEAD?? or diabetic?? or having heart attacks??

I don't care if he swims the English Channel....

12,000 calories A DAY!!!

Good Lord!!!
I couldn't do this on a bet (and I used to be AN EATER)

I'm not a swimmer (have you heard of water displacement?) but, I eat the very same diet as him. Without the grits.

I read that too, Melody. Amazing amount of food. Glad I don't pay his grocery bills!!

My DD18 used to swim competitively for most of her growing-up years. She also had a big appetite. Would eat supper prior to 5-7pm swim practice, and come home and eat an entire second supper.

One summer, she had 2 practices a day -- total of 20 hrs. per wk. Swam 7 miles a day that summer, I think. One mile is 66 lengths of a 25m pool.

Michael's same breakfast menu was on Aussie TV this morning!

I'll stick with my tea and toast thank you!

and.........Aussie TV commentators are now saying that Michael Phelps has taken over The Greatest Ever Sportsman title from Mahammad Ali.

How good is that?
