DVD vs CD?

I have a really favorite thing... and it is only available on
DVD and YouTube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zucZ5LEuTcI

This piece is on an album CD, but that does not have good sound, or Hayley's sister on back up.

If I bought the DVD (available on Amazon)...could I isolate the sound and copy it to MP3 and/or CD for my car?

Because Hayley is from New Zealand, there are just limited versions available. This concert is NOT on CD anywhere, I've looked and looked.

I just love this song!

Can anyone help with this?

mrsD, check this out.

Down the bottom. Album "Pure".
ITunes USA.

It might be studio version on that CD though and not the live version that you really are wanting.

There is also a mixed artists CD called "Bravo" with that particular song on it.
Not sure if this is the live version either.

If I can help in any way please let me know. I can look around here.

I'm sure there's a way to get the track's sound off the DVD but I'm sorry I just don't know myself.

That song is available on Hayley's album/CD named "Pure". It's the last track at number 12. Sanity Music stores here in Australia stock it. http://www.sanity.com.au/product/pro...sp?sku=1140982

It's also available on this CD of mixed artists. It's track 9.

Let me know if I can help.

LOL Lara! Great minds think alike. We were posting at the same time. :D

OK. Made a phone call.

You apparently can do everything that you asked about, mrsD, (except actually physically burn to the cd) with a free programme called MPEG Streamclip.

The person I was just speaking with loaded it up while I was on the phone and went through the process.

Okay...

I'll try that, Lara.

I already bought the MP3 version from Pure from Amazon.

It is vastly inferior to the live concert version. It is terrible on my Sansa player--too tinny.

This weekend, I'll check out that conversion. My son said it was illegal? First I have to buy the DVD.

Koala-- that might be it! I wonder if the CD is a format that works in USA?

The version with her sister is so much better than the Pure album version... no comparison!

What's illegal? The MPEG Streamclip programme?

How is it illegal to copy from your own DVD player to your own CD? It'd be illegal if you sold multiple copies, but I don't see how that is illegal.

The person I was talking with and who suggested it has it on their Mac. Just a different version. Says it does exactly what you want. I think the Feds would be after people who do more serious things than copy one track from their own DVD to a CD for their own use. lol hey?

Edited later to add:
:icon_redface: I sure hope I'm not suggesting something that is illegal.
That's the last thing I'd ever want to do. lol *ack :icon_redface:

I can't see any reason why an Australian CD wouldn't play on your CD player mrsD. One of our NT member has sent me 2 CDs now from the USA, and I have no problem playing them here.

DVDs on the other hand are not interchangeable. Australian DVDs are formatted for the Australian market - PAL format and region 4. They would need to be reformatted in order for you to view on a DVD player. You can however, play our DVDs through most computers.

I have more info, but I'll send it via PM so as not to clog up this thread.

Actually I forgot to mention that I have a dear friend who lives in NZ, and if there was a particular version that you wanted, she may have better luck obtaining it for you in NZ, than I do here in Oz.

Also.....Did you notice on that second link that you can preview every track on the CD?

mrsD 02-06-2009 07:18 AM

Lara...

You know I sent that question to my son, and he could have misunderstood..etc. Or he doesn't know what is now available.
I guess pirates do this, convert one type to another and sell. <shrugs>

He is learning now that he is out of school, how fast our memories and learning start to atrophy (if you don't use it all the time). He used to be really swift on the computer, and last time he was here to help me with the Evernote upgrades (he uses them at work), he managed to mess me up!
In my area of expertise, one can get REALLY stale, and I know how to avoid that. But he needs to still learn it.

Right now he is programming a new product at his job and then testing it out. And doing the help desk too. He says no matter how long or thoroughly you test it out, SOMETHING will remain as a bug... Personally I don't think I could do what he does!
I am biological and real, and this programming is too etherial for my mind! LOL
