How many doctors?
Does it take to screw in a light bulb? lol
No, how many have you seen since your symptoms first appeared? Just wondering. I'm at 13 and counting. My pain dr left, and I had to see another dr at his clinic but do NOT like him, so I'm looking again for a doc. UGH.... |
I've seen two (related to my MS). The doctor who dx me was about an hour away and I always had to wait over an hour once I got there. So...I needed to find someone closer. I've gone to the same Neuro here now since 2006. I do have a GP that I've been too for years so I guess that makes three! :p

PS - Your Pom is ADORABLE - I have one just like it! |
I'm about to visit my 4th...my first neuro dropped my ins., the second one didn't think I had anything she could help me with, the present one doesn't return calls and makes me see his NP...so I'm going to a fourth who's actually an MS specialist to see if he thinks I'm on the right meds, etc.
I feel like a hypochondriac, but that's just the way things go... |
I have had two neuros, two eye doctors and three PCP's. I have been with my current neuro for 15 years. He is with the MS Clinic in Rochester, NY, and is awesome. My current PCP and eye doctor are both very knowledgeable about MS which eases my mind when I go and see them.

Seven neurologists over about a 20-year period. Some, I couldn't wait to get away from. Some, I had to quit seeing because we moved.
I've been seeing my current neuro for three years now. He's definitely a keeper, and I have no plans to move, so I hope he'll be my neuro for many years to come. It's such a safe and comfortable feeling when you find a doctor you like, trust, and get along with! |
7 neuros in 8 years (but that's only because I move or they do!!)
|
I've had 5, but that's been in 30 plus years, and only because we moved states.
|
In May see my 5th for first time. 2 moved far away, one got a better job across town, 1 wasn't very proactive but he was nice, A neuro. who DXed me, but no bedside manners so I never saw him again, an opthamologist-Neurologist, two PCPs and Lazar surgery doctors
Really liked my last one, but he moved. |
I don't have MS but have a condition that is fairly similar in many ways and is just as hard to diagnose and treat!!!
I have seen about 25 Doctors in the last 2 years that I have had RSD!!! I have seen about 8 Physical Therapists (covering 3 different hospitals in the UK), 2 Neurologists, 2 Pain Management Doctors, about 5 Orthopaedic Doctors (this was to check that I didn't have any broken bones in my leg, which I didn't), my GP, 3 Psychologists (2 to help me come to terms with my illness and the school's Psychologist to try and find ways for me to work around my illness), 3 Orthotic Doctors etc etc! It is SO frustrating that we all have to see soo many Doctors before we can get an accurate diagnosis! I really wish that Doctors would be more familiar with different illnesses and actually know what to look out for!! My nanan had Progressive MS and she had to see lots of doctors before she was diagnosed and many more after that to get the Baclofen Pump and treat complications that arose from the MS. |
