Anybody Here Belong To AAA?

I got an offer to join AAA in the mail and I'm trying to decide if I should or not.

It sounds like a good deal.....$64 for 13 months of coverage plus a free membership for a second family member.

All the services they offer would be a great deal....if I ever used them. Just one time of needing a tow truck or flat fixed would more than cover the cost of the membership. And you can use it anywhere.....even if you're just a passenger in someone else's car and something happens.

Anyone here belong to AAA or have any thoughts one way or the other about it?

I have it. Not only do I get towing I get a lower rate on my car insurance for having it. That alone made up for the cost of membership.

Many places offer discounts for AAA members including Target.com. I never knew that until someone on NT posted a link to all the discounts you can receive with AAA. I can even get discounts on optical stuff through Sears and Target.

I have it and will never cancel! I love the discounts and I love knowing if my kids get stranded they are taken care of no matter who's car they are in. We have the premium coverage and pay a little more but the deals alone are worth the cost. When the boys move out we'll probably downsize the coverage but wont let it go.

I've been a member since 1980 and have never regretted it for a minute. Geckos come and go, but AAA has done me a solid every single time I've needed them (those Jeeping years really tested the limits).

Their maps & tourbooks combined with reliable and full human service cannot be beat. Free travelers' cheques and prepaid visas, passport photos, travel assistance, national access (like the time I had to pay my insurance bill in a huge hurry in CO) and all kinds of perks. Windshield chip repair is free, too.

When I had my accident, the inspector looked it over and cut me a rental car check on the spot. My coverage payment arrived within a week and I was driving the new car 2 days later.

Sheesh, I should be getting a commission!

Thanks, that's good to hear. It sounded like a good deal but I was wondering if it was one of those "too good to be true" deals I always seem to fall for!! I think I'm going to join! :)

Cindy, do you get your insurance through AAA? We've been thinking about switching from State Farm to AAA.

Kelly - I don't think you will regret it. I got a similar deal only it was $50 something at the time and I could add a family member for free. I paid a little extra to put DD17 on it but as Sandy said, I know that the girls will never be stranded and to me that is so worth the money.

Here's the link to the site where you can find out the other discounts you can receive in your area. I think you just put your zipcode in and a list will come up.

Yeah. AAA pays for itself. We have it because I don't want my wife stranded, but it seems to be me that uses it the most (I drive older 'her' used cars).

I'd say maybe 35% of the time the AAA rates at hotel rates are cheaper and we use it.

Oh, you get free maps and triptics and maps and all kinds of junk. I got a whole stack of maps and books from them for our Grand Teton/Yellowstone trip this summer.

We've been with AAA since something like 1990.

Mary uses it for Target, but I'm not famliar with this. We've used it at other places too. I think I bought a stuffed Jackalope and got 10% off at Wall Drug with my AAA card (I'm being serious).

It gets pricey. We're up to something like $125/year, but we get things like free teleportation back to earth when we're visiting on other planets and our intergalactic winnebago breaks down...

Oh yeah I forgot something. I also get discounts when I take the car in to get serviced.
