Default Does anyone else have these.....?

I just passed my 1 year anniversary with RSD and I have noticed as I am getting used to my symptoms, I am having small lumps under my skin on my affected leg (right leg) and my unaffected left leg mimics the lumps right before a flare. They go away when the flare eases up, but I was wondering if anyone else experiences these lumps. They are like dime sized when no color to them. They just swell up under my skin when my leg is flaring. I found one on my left foot when I had the last flare, about 2 weeks ago. They are starting to flare now because my nephew was born 10 weeks early and is fighting for his little life. The stress is starting to get to me and I am trying really hard not worry, but it's hard.

I would appreciate it if anyone who has similar "lumpy" symptoms to tell as I haven't found a thread on this board that addresses this and my neurologist is baffled by them also.

Thanks, Cindi

Aww,
Cindi!
I wish I could say different. But, I get these too. Stressors just aren't good for RSD.

I also wish, that I knew what to tell you to try for these symptoms.
Recently, a spider bit me, but about 100 times, I went through the entire package of steroids, and I'm still getting hives. (any ideas?)

Maybe some Benedryl might help you?
Are your "bumps" itchy?
I wish I knew what to tell you.
I'm gonna take another "Allegra" now before bed. (I don't want to mix too much).

However, and, as you know, stress is a terrible thing with this disease!

I hope you get well soon!

Pete

These lumps are not itchy and they are always in the same place and the right leg will get them in the same place as the left. I know that RSD can "mirror" an unaffected body part, but this one is a baffling symptom even to my doctors. I know that they are not hives and they have no color even if the rest of my leg does.

I don't have this but do have a skin condition but it is not just on my rsd. I have read of others though who have rashes etc. Do you take as needed meds when you get stressed in a flare that could be causing this possibly? I wish I had answers for you. I do have a seperate condition but it all over that I got after my rsd and had to go to a dermatolgist. Are you seeing a pain doctor too who deals with rsd? I would because I know the ones I have worked with are more aware then the neuro with other things like skin changes etc with this.

I do have a dermatologist as I have had psoriasis all my life. These lumps are under my skin and there has been no other symptoms except they show up before a flare. I have had every test you can think of to figure them out, but since them seem to be benign no one seems to think they are serious. I don't either. I thought maybe someone else may read this thread and be able to relate or have a similar symptom. Thanks for the input.

No, they are not red and they are UNDER my skin. not on top. It seems that everyone I talk to has some kind of red bumps. I guess I am just one of the weird ones that get these. They don't, hurt, itch or have any color. Thanks Bobber for the response

Hi Cindi,
I'm so sorry you are having these lumps. I can understand with you nephew in a critical state, why you would be affected. I hope he pulls thru.
I get the lumps too. I believe they are lymph glands swollen because of stress, rsd flare etc. I've told my RSD neurologist about them and showed him different parts of body swollen, hard and painful and he agreed the areas are where lymph glands are. I have had them massaged by a therapist. I've had them in groin, both sides, arm pit, neck -near the ear lobe, face, They are painful to massage-hard.
That is what I have come up with, Dr. agrees where I showed him are lymph gland areas.
There is a good rsd site: rsdrx.com by Dr. Hooshmand-retired. But you might get some information there.
Take care, and I'm so sorry you are having these symptoms too Lymph glands are throughout our entire body-Let me know what you think of this
diagnosis? Your friend and soft hugs, loretta

Thanks Miss Loretta, I have read almost all of Dr Hoosmand's writings and I love what he has done for our population. I just wish that there are more Drs that would take an interest like he did. I had one neurologist call Dr. Hoosmand a "voodoo scientist"and that he didn't know what he was talking about. I never went back to him. My PM doctor is a huge fan of The RSD Puzzle and he especially referred my cerebral palsy to the puzzle number that explains how spinal lumbar blocks can cause paralysis in CP patients.

They really just think that the lumps are part of the RSD puzzle. Some people just get strange symptoms and some don't.

My nephew is doing really well and has gain almost 3oz in the past 3 days because of his Mommy's good breast milk. He is at 3lbs and 2oz and we call Teeny Little Super Guy. He is a feisty little thing and the doctors are really positive. Thanks for the hug!
