As I said it got to 16 below last night now it's 3 degrees., the high today will only get to 19. My water is frozen all through the house. I forgot to let it run last night.
My car is in the shop, the water pump went out. Susan's is in the same shop. Her heater went out. I like the cold better then the heat though. I hurt worse when I get too hot and uncomfortable. Are any of you getting weather this cold? I sure hope not. Ada |

Ada,
I'm a Master Plumber. Turn the heat UP, and open the cabinets under all sinks! Do this before pipes start bursting. (In the future, when they call for cold, open those cabinet doors to let heat in). Sometimes Garages need to be heated with auxiliary heat. This is a common mistake folks make, turn the heat down, when it gets cold outside. (Not saying you did that). But, I've seen some real disasters, when pipes start popping everywhere, floods, ceilings down. And, carry HO3 homeowners insurance. That covers this sort of thing.. I hope you don't get any freeze ups! Hope you're feeling well through this! Pete |

Thanks for the advice. I still don't have water, hot or cold. My neighbor only has cold.
I kept the heat up last night due to having the boys here. They were on a 2 hour delay for school. I just didn't think about the water last night. I have had it all turned on all day so if it thaws the pipes won't bust but since it only got to 21 today, I am thinking I won't have water for awhile. I will open my cabinet doors, never thought about that one. Thanks, Ada |

WOW - that is cold!! I hope there is an emergency contact in the area for water if needed. My parents live near the inlet of a barrier island in Jersey, and my father has developed a network for all the folks in their little town for when the weather gets rough. Bad northeasters can cut them off from civalization until payloaders come and move the sand and other debris from the main roads.
Keep in touch with others, especially the elderly that might need assistance. Are all of your neighbors water pipes frozen also? Yikes.....no hot showers???? It is good that you have the boys with you. I will pray that you get your car back ASAP..... XOXOXO Sandy |

I still don't have water. I am getting it from my neighbor. I am sure when my water thaws, I will have some busted pipes. Another expense before Christmas.
My car will be ready today. 350. worth done. Thankfully my kids are going to pay for having it fixed. It's still cold here. I think it's suppose to get in the 30's today. I actually like the cold for my RSD. I do better with the cold weather. It's kind of strange that the heat makes my pain level rise. When I took my car to the shop, I had to walk 10 blocks back to the house. It was about 20 degrees and 5 inches of snow on the ground. I like it. My right foot does burn some though when it's cold. As far as I know Sandy, we don't have any emergency setup around here. I do have good neighbors though. We check on each other all of the time. We had a bad summer so I knew our winter was going to be bad this year. They said it's the worst one since 5 years ago. I notice a lot of places across the west was getting hit pretty hard. Ada |
