I usually watch it - I like most well produced talent shows, but not the cheezy copy cat ones.

Remember Star Search- way back when??
Even the Gong show was funny- another oldie

I really liked Making the Band -"O Town" = 2000
Then there was a girl group version on a different channel- it was good too.
I don't know if either of those made it in the real world for very long but they were good shows.

Did you see the interview with Paula {seattle} she was really slurring and acting drunk or something.

Yupe............I like AI quite a bit. Not every year was so good, but I think this year is going to be the best.

Did you see Paula's interview on one of the TV stations? Whoopsie..........

They said she was just tired, but she was a bit tipsy......

I felt bad for her, it was splashed all over the media.

Oh well, to err is human..........

We can make a game out of it by picking our favorties every week, it will be fun.

Judy

Hey Judy & Jo!

Yes!!! I remember the Gong Show! Tooo funny!!!

I'm an AI junkie and would definately love to have a pick fav's week! Something to take our mind of of everything for a while. We need that...Like tonight I'm on a brain melt down - I can hardly even type. It's been a long last 2 days _ I worked back to backs and hubby was really sick this morning - had cold sweats on both arms - I could see him perspiring and he was shaking like a leaf....B-A-D morning.

So yeah! Sign me up for the picks! I can use some mindless fun!

i'm sure most people know paula claimed to have had rsd and say she is cured ... she had problems acting weird last season on air and claimed she was using meds to deal with her rsd pain. so is it drunk or is it medication? she has not done much for us as far as being an rsd spokesperson or even making rsd look like a 'real' syndrome.

Default Some fun time

Hey all:

I love American Idol, my husband even had it waiting for me when I returned from my voice lesson on Tuesday! What a guy! Star Search, god I was young then lol. Gong Show, yikes! I remember my first clogs, leather with red apples embroidered on the front that I would put on to dance.

Paula Abul I think was incorrectly diagnosed. She has so much cervical damage that it could have been any number of things. What peed me off most was the doctor from Cedars Sinai who stated, "this is a rare disorder and very few people have it" Has he not done his research? I understand there to be 200,000 to 1.2 million people who have this, I don't call that very few! I think both he and Paula are tipping the bottle back and having a good laugh!

I know with my hands, I am lucky to get an hour of typing a day and that is with a lot of start and stops. Anyone care to guess how many dishes I drop? It's funny but not!

So LET'S HAVE FUN! I would love to pick favorites on AI! An early favorite is I think called "Jordan"???? not sure, 16yr old, black female, red shirt with cropped jean jacket. She has potential!!! Just my opinion.

oh and now the feud about it with Rosie- that they shouldn't make fun of the bad ones?

most of them say they watch the show - so they should know how it goes- if you are bad they will play it over and over.
so why don't they record themselves and really listen to how they sound -
I think some do it just to get on TV.
How can they not know how bad they sing???

Maybe their family and friends are all tone deaf, so they really don't know.
But a tape recording wouldn't lie.

Hey Jo

My sister dreams of being a eurovision song contest writer and singer.... (a very trashy european singing competition). Unfortunaly no matter how many times she is recorded/ camcorded she cannot see that

SHE CANNOT SING!!!!

some people are just in denial about how badly they sing/ dance... and no matter how many times you tell them they continue to believe that you are jealous of their great talent..

(Hey it's one of the best things about coming back to Uni - no more songs like "I'm washing up and happy", "Judy is a gorgeous baby (dog)", "When I grow up I want a pouff puff (Alphred)". etc

...even more worryingly she is a nurse - and sings to her patients when she is with them (including "the dressing song" "the spasic dressing song [reserved for me] and "getting to the commode" song.

scary huh?

...anyway the main point was that the families have probaly tried to tell them they can't sing.

and failed.

OH MY GOSH! I dont think I have ever laughed so much in my life!!! "getting to the commode" song!!!!???

No offense - But thank goodness she's YOURS! LOL!!!

There was a guy on there (Wednesday's show) who was from my home town - VERY SCARY!!! I think some of these people think they are going to end up like William Hung - Could be?

I thought the woman and her mom (the blonde & brunette) who looked alike were pretty funny! We're still wondering if the blonde had a bra on or not!!??

Hi Rosie,

What a truly funny reply, I laughed like a drain (and hey, the Eurovision Song Contest ).....I think you really have answered the queries we all have with AI (i.e. what were they thinking???) - I reckon you'll make a great psychologist.

Sorry to mix threads, (but I have no suggestions for the dystonia, so sorryyyy...) just wanted to say good luck with the exams, hope you can get things calmed down in time because, from this post, your brain sounds in very good form indeed..

artist sings ------> Good Luck!!<-----
all the best.
