In a script I'm currently working on, I introduce one of the leads, who is bi polar and is in the midst of a hallacinatory peak, trampling through the streets like Robert Lowell used to do thinking he was Jesus, as "...a fading beauty with an etherial quality. Except her eyes. They burn."

Oh the irony. The intense burning has recently spread to my eyes.

I went yesterday, Saturday, and had my eyes checked out by my optomologist. As expected, all the structural parts are fine. It's just the small fiber nerves, now activated. After giving my the yellow anesthetic drops though, my eyes were fine, the burning abated. It lasted until just now, about a day in total.

I've looked up that using these drops every day is a no go, due to their causing cornea damage with excessive use. But my eyes are burnin' up. Is any aware just how often I can use these drops without causing further damage? What would be the period of time needed between using the anesthetic drops? I'm not to hopeful here.

So what are the possible alternitives available to the anesthetic drops used by my doctor? What else is there that numbs my eyes, which I could use in their place, so that I wouldn't cause even more damage? Has any with burning eyes found anything to help lower the flame?

Oh, I'm already on nearly every oral medication already.

Do me a favor..call your eye Dr. first thing tomorrow.. they can help with the duration question as well as what else to use and I think you should let them know what you are experienceing since seeing them.... Don't tell me..!! our eyes affected too?? Makes sense due to all of the nerve fibers back there...after you speak with them.. let us know what they say...

Hi Dhue, I am so very sorry you have experienced eye pain. I know someone who has RSD eye burning. I'll ask and get back with you. I would be heading to the best eye Dr. in the country with RSD experience. That is something we can not afford to loose. Please let us know what you find out. Your friend, loretta with soft hugs

When I go into flares is when my eyes get worse and the burning makes me tear and then my eyes turn red and eventually they swell to the point I cant see. I really wish I was able to help as I know how bad it gets. If you find an answer that helps let me know I to would could use some help with the burning.

Hi Niki, I am so very sorry you have the burning in your eyes. About 13 years ago, I had laser eye surgery on a Trial. After a couple of years, it was OK'd for the US. It was for long distance. I remember after I left the eye Dr. , my eyes started burnin-torturous burn. My husband called the eye Dr. and we went straight to pharmacy to get eye drops. It saved me. I gather from someone else, that can't be permanent as it damages the eye in the long run.
I have a friend who is an excellent eye surgeon in Seattle, and will ask him. Before I did the trial study for laster distance, I went to seattle to see him and he agreed I would be perfect canidate for it. He is now doing the procedure himself.

Sorry about the burning you have in your eyes. I know it is very painful..Can it be the result of allergies, fatigue, strain, etc?
i have had burning 'attacks' in my eyes often, and it can happen out of nowhere..this has occurred even before I had RSD. I have had to pull off the freeway, as it sometimes happens while driving..it is very painful..they burn and itch and tear..
One of my co-workers has burning and tearful eyes all morning ..she goes through several tissues before it abates.

There might be a safe, gentle homeopathic treatment you can use in the interim(such as chamomile drops, etc. ) until you get a more definitive diagnosis and treatment..check in with your P.M. doc, opthomologist, or homeopathic doc before you try....
I hope it is something simple and treatable..
