Default My physical Therapist quit on me now what?

Just wondering if anyone else had this problem. He decided that I'm as good as I'm going to get and mailed my ortho a letter stating that he esentially doing nothing for me and that I needed to continue on my own at a private pool. Man I just want to beat on someone right now. Lazy good for nothing loser. Sorry just venting.

Default Hi Krank,

He may have brought you as far as he could.

My PTist released me a couple of weeks ago because he said he felt like what I am dealing with now is the RSD pain and the Fibro pain. He says my neck issue is medical and he's taught me what to do at home to help with it.
I've had the same PTist for about 6 years and he is the best. To me some are smarter then Drs.

If you feel he hasn't done all he can do, see if you can find a different one to go to.

I think they get pressured to discharge the person after a certain amount of time. { by ins?} Usually they can only treat for the time frame Rx'd by the MD.

Maybe MD asked for an update and results so far?
and further tx can't be justified right now?

And maybe PT has done as much as they can for now.

If you feel more PT is needed and helpful maybe a new place or therapist might be a good thing.

the old one door closes and another one opens theory...

Default Hi Krank

Don't be angry, I would lay odds that it is an insurance issue, there is an allotted time for physical therapy. Usually, they send you with a program to do at home. Did they at least do that?

Sorry guys. I know its simple just to fire the guy and drowned him in the pool. Its just that I just get a good thing going and he cuts me off. We only have one heated swimming pool in the whole town and the next one is a nasty 30 minute drive. Maybe I should start from the beginning. When I asked the PT dept. in our lovely little town if they could accommodate me with a heated pool for Pt they didn't even know what aqua therapy was. The only time my Pt guy goes on the computer is to check espn and the weather. I had to educate him on CRPS. I was the first person to request it and my wife and I practically had to set it up ourselves. He would always whine that he had to walk across the street when it was snowing out. The guy wouldn't even get wet. He found the first opportunity to dump me and thats what he did. I have to admit the aqua theapy was great. I was in a new heated endless pool at a place called the Athletic Republic. The town is so small that I had the high school swimming coach as my life guard most of the time. So that my friends is the story. The insurance company had no problem nor did my ortho he kept writing open orders. I just wondered if anyone got cut off from theapy by your PT stating there is nothing more he could do for you and that it was unethical for him to continue if you didn't show a continous progression. Thanks Krank

Well I have not had this because I did not have good results with PT. A few thoughts though. Could you call the pt guy up and ask him why? At least you will know. Also could you still go and use that pool? Maybe they would allow you to with a small fee? I am sorry about this. I know things like this can impact one mentally. Not with this but other things similar I have had docs thow there hands up. Try to focus on the progress you have made and ways to continue it whether that be on your own or finding someone else who is willing to work with you.

Angry They all quit on us sooner or later

Hey Krank,

I have been dealing with CRPS for 8 years now and my experience is that sooner or later someone in your pain management circle of "professionals" will bail out on you. I've even had my pharmacy bail out on me and refuse to fill/re-fill my prescriptions. Their excuse? "Your meds are just too strong... you will have to go over to the cancer treatment center from now on". Unbelievable.

Thanks everyone. I knew this was the place to come to when I need some answers. This place is Hell and awesome at the same time. It's Hell because every one of us are in the same dingy and awesome because when stuff hits the fan this place has invaluable information. ( and an understanding place to vent). The shared experiences are truly priceless. I just wish I could provide more to the discussion but I feel like a rookie when it comes to fighting this beast. The beast is tough enough let alone when individuals that are getting paid to treat start abandoning ship. I think the reason why they are is because it is getting close to lawsuit time. Unlike WC the railroad has another set of rules they play by. Fela has it's own rules. I have to prove that the railroad was at fault when I got injured. So the burden of proof is on me. If you may have noticed the railroad I work for is not that ethical. BNSF tends to want to cover things up like in the case of four kids that got killed at a crossing in Minnesota a few years ago. The judge ruled that BNSF had covered up, made up and destroyed evidence. Everyone in Minnesota seems to know about this case and know how they do business. The railroad asked for my PT notes a week before my PT decided that I was done. This has been crazy and frustrating. I would not wish this beast on my worst enemy. Thanks Krank
