I just got a letter from the Honorable Senator Jay Rockefeller saying that all of my paperwork had been sent to the right people....I am keeping my fingers crossed...if you are having trouble getting SS then contact your local legislator and they can direct you to your state Senator and it goes from there...2 years isn't bad.

Cindi, I am so thrill for you. Did you do the paperwork on your own, or have the assistance of an attorney? It seems some attorneys don't wantto get involved until you reach the appeal stage.
I have had RSD 15 years- four year delayed diagnosis. Now full body and internally for the past 6-7 years. I'm putting together a timeline then get dates of Dr. appointments, etc. Starts in one state, then moved to another state before diagnosis. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I believe what you've done is called a "Congressional Inquiry" A congressman inquires on your behalf the status of your case with SS. I've done this twice for my wife and it should help speed things along. But, keep in mind congress people can not sway SS's decision making process. I hope everything works out for you because you've earned and payed for your SSDI and you are entitled to it!

I got my SS by writing to a State Rep. here in CO. He was Ben Nighthorse Cambell. I sent him a handwritten letter with a lot of my medical records. I'm sure he didn't go over all of them but I just thought if I enundated him with it all he would see that I deserved my SS. He wrote me a letter saying he would check into it and within one week I had a letter saying I was approved.

If you get that right man or woman in office, you can get something done. I also used one when I lived in Ky. to get help I needed and got it done.

If he doesn't help you along enough, maybe you can write to another one.

I'm a little baffled by this, were you aproved through a SS judge? Two attorneys and two congressman who's I've talked to said they can not sway the decission of SS. They can inquire in what progress is being made to bring this case in front of a judge for review resulting, hopefully, the process is sped up. I never questioned this because it does make sinse in that congressman can abuse this, if in fact they have the power to do this, and end up abusing the system by putting friends and family ahead of the pack, in front of those in more need. If it's the case you can bet many will abuse it.
However, if I'm wrong about this then I'll send ten boxes of medical records the next time!

I didn't know this guy from Adam, I just picked one to send my info to and did it. I felt that a hand written letter was more personal.

I think they can help people without abusing their power. We have some that do abuse it. We got a Governor here now that has abused his so bad, he's not running again because he knows he won't get back in.

I think we have some people in offices though that are dedicated to helping people and work hard at it. It's not abuse, it's helping the people that voted them in.

I think too it shows guts that they help one person out knowing that the ones persons vote isn't all that important in an election.

There have been others on here that got the help of people in office to get their SS. Debbie {gigglebabe} was one that I know of.

It took 2 years: I got denied the first time then hired a SS Atorney and got the decision ,fully favorable, 3 weeks ago. When you hire a SS Attorney you do not have to pay them any money up front the SS Administration pays them out of your settlement and if you loose so do they. l had quite a medical history from my inquiry to getting the RSD. Also my doctors where extremely supportive and coorporated with whatever had to be done. I also had to leave a very good career that I worked very hard to build for years, which I loved and missed terriibly, so I had alot of SS$ built up. It does matter how much you have worked and made throughout your working career, why I don't know.

It does happen but patience is the word I had to remember every day.

The reason it matters how much you worked & how much you made is because that is what they use to determine what your monthly SS payment will be. We don't all get the same amount. It is solely based on how much you earned more than how much you worked.

RSD should be one of the syndromes out there that has an automatic approval stamp. It is rare that anyone who goes thru the process ends up in remission. Takes too darn long for the DX it seems.
