okay..now I know I have read up on this issue here before but I must ask..Any of you have these on again off again issues of sweat ... I mean melts happening?? If so, do you think that is a sign when we are having spread??? For myself I have period of time of daily.. of sweat happen for a span like a month or more..I turn to water in seconds..beginning usually at my feet and up it rises...I can feel it....right to the top of my head...My last bout of this ended just before my Drexel trip..then I may go a few months..and without warning..it begins again..and lasts for a month or more.. before RSD I was never hot..never..I was constantly cold..and please don't think it is due to the other..cuz I had that all riped out 10 yrs. ago..(thankfully)..and I have asked..it has nothing to do with it...plus I am a 47 yr. old fossil..

Yes, we can definately talk sweat. Like you, I go through phases of sweat, more in the winter than summer. Mine also starts in my feet and spreads upward. I always change my socks two to three times of the day due to the excessive sweating. Unlike you, I have not had my goods RIPED out!!! LOL so some of this could be the other for me. I am always cold. Either way, even though you have had your goods removed, you can still go through the changes, or the symptoms of the change that is not uncommon, even years after the fact. Also, I do believe I read something about the thyroid gland producing such effects. Maybe have that checked to rule out. But to answer your question, yes sweating has become quite bothersome for me the past year or two. Good luck my clammy friend, and get your thyroid checked.

I actually have a mass on my rt. thyroid so that baby is under constant supervision and they say it is my RSD.. my "other" Dr. says the same thing..she left only a piece of my ovary (rest went to the incenerator, woo-hoo!!)...but countless times I have inquired about that with her too and she has no doubt it is my RSD.. Just wonder if others have it in phases and what it may be a sign of..?? Hey and boys out there have the sweats too possible RSD ??? Iam a facts girl..thats the science background in me....

I too have been having the same problem. It is strange that you mention with spread because I have noticed an increase in sweating the last 3 weeks and now it has spread to my right elbow and shoulder and more intensely in my wrist and hand. I can't stand it. It is so embarrassing. My feet will be sweating and yet they are so cold. momof4

I was only in the sweating phase for a short time, and I don't recall that it was that uncomfortable. Then I became cold. So, so cold. My heating pad is my best friend (other than my husband and sweet little dog named Sammy, of course...)

Oh yeah, and ain't it sexy! Mine seem to mostly happen at night, prior to a flare, and most recently a spread to my left shoulder, neck and can you believe ...ear. Several nightgowns a night. I too have passed those golden moments, so I have to believe that it must be related. prayers to all, Lisa

Mine seems to go in phases..Like periods of melting on and off for like weeks or even months or so then it stops completely then months later it begins again..Yes, Lisa my left ear has been affected and I believe it flows with my progression..like my body is fighting it...nasty!

Mr Dr told me about the sweating at initial diagnosis - literally on my way to the OR after he had spent over 6, excruciating hours trying to set my open, compound Colles fracture caused by my own stupidity. Left wrist, nearly 20 years ago, RSD to this day.

I started seeing the sweating immediately, while still in the 1st of many casts. My boss, a high muckety-muck manager in a huge corporation absolutely did not believe in RSD; actually called me a slacker, although I made up every minute of daily PT - I was putting in 80-hour weeks. One morning, at 5 a.m., we were on a conference call with counterparts on a different continent (I was a minor muck). I was deeply concentrating on the call, and had started propping some pens between fingers on my bad hand (I still do that when my RSD flares to this day). Suddenly, without any explanation to the other parties on the call, my boss put our side on hold. She was speechless for a moment, and then said "Look at your fingers!!" The sweat was pouring from my fingertips like a shower. My paperwork below them was saturated. Immediate RSD believer, including the rest in the room!

For me, the sweating has never led to a spread. It is more like the RSD telling me to NEVER forget it, especially in light of recent events. For me, over nearly 20 years, it is a just a familiar and common companion. It has not been a harbinger of RSD spread. I truly hope yours is exactly the same. P.S I acquired the sweats from RSD before my hysterectomy and before menopause; I actually missed the latter until the nurse informed me from my yearly physical. And continued to miss it after the nurse told me Sweat might just become a friend for you. Very good luck and never let the RSD win!

My sweating comes whenever the pain flares, say, to a '7' or above.

I am a parrothead (Jimmy Buffett fan, for those who don't know) so I have a large 'tropical' type wardrobe. I do have regular clothes too, but I can't wear them. I need to have a tank top/tank dress type outfit at all times to decrease the clothing sensitivity and to be cooler because of severe sweating. It'll be snowing here and I'm out in a hawaiian sundress.....people look at me a little strange

Conveniently, my arms, neck, and face are always red so people assume I'm sunburned and just back from somewhere tropical

I live in MD and even during the five feet of snow I was outside in my latest concert tee, soaking wet from sweat and blue lipped and teeth chattering. We just got back from Magic on the Water, in Punta Gorda, FL with Jim Morris and the Big Bamboo Band, Doyle Grisham and Sunny Jim and John Frinzi. It was a BLAST!!! Hoping to get to Meeting of the Minds next year.....
