Kathy sorry to hear you are having problems in your jaw now too. My jaw problems come and go, upper left side of teeth are always involved too. very painful. for me its like a nerve is sensitive in the teeth and the jaw is bone pain. fortunatly for me, this comes and goes. hope it will for you to , my very best to you,dc

I am sorry you also have it..usually mine will come and go also but so far I am on several days in a row and no let up...and it does not want to let up...I am steering away from hard chow right now..trying to just be a good sport.. You know me..gotta smile..behind that smile I am gritting my teeth lately but again it is part of our issue huh..If I had a magic wand..I would proudly wave it over you and all of our RSD friends..and pray I could relieve all of our nasty pain..It was wonderful to hear from you my friend..Thxs..it trully helps having your support...

This just started for me. For about a week, I had a lot of pain in the joint between my jaw and my skull on one side only. This was actually in the joint, right in front of my ear, so I would not really call it jaw pain. I was blaming my Rheumatoid Arthritis and was going to discuss it with the rheumatologist at my next visit. That made sense to me because it clearly seemed like a joint pain more than anything else.

I am surprised to hear from all of you that you have jaw pain and that you feel it is somewhat related to RSD. Interesting...

I am curious to hear more of the specific location of your pain. When someone says "back pain" that's a huge area. "Jaw pain" is a little more specific, but is it in the joint (as I felt) along the lower teeth, along the bottom (the "whisker area" on men) or general overall malaise?

I would be more than happy to describe and give you the dirty details about this jaw pain..... Mine too is my lower right side..it seems to begin deep below my last tooth and the pain radiates forward to the center of my jaw in the front... It seems real deep..and even that side of my toungue hurts and today I am noticing the inside of my cheek feel roughed up..I have had the pain this time for going on 5 days..Now I have had a root canal on the back tooth so I should not have pain as thenerve is gone...and the x-ray shows a "halo" in the nerve bed..When my endodontist taps on my teeth slowly moving forward it hurts all the way up to the front of my mouth.... My reg. dentist is at a loss so my endo. is back on it and he feels it is RSD... The nerve bed feel conants sharp pain..makes me bite down hard.....Hope I helped you..

I too have horrible jaw pain. I have TMJ and since I was diagnosed it has gotten much worse. So much so that my PM is afraid to put me under during spinal blocks because he doesnt think the can intibate me if needed. I am always very tense before surgery, and tend to clench my jaws while stressed. My Chiropractor cracks my neck a certain way and it seems to help for a day or two. Also, I do stretches, like singers do, by stretching my mouth open repeatedly. Good luck, it can be maddening.

When you said the pain has gotten worse since you were diagnosised..do you mean diagnosised with RSD or the TMJ?? Yes..it really hurts, does not help when the rest our bodies are trainwrecking also..but it is one way for weight control huh?? I am not eating hard chow for the last few days..The thought of chewing down on something hard just turns away my hunger...

Kathy, I dont know if this will help but during these flare ups i use a plastic spoon, the flare ativates the sensitity in my teeth and plastic is better for me. thank you for you kind thoghts as always. they help so much. sincerely dc

Of course, you are always welcome!! The pain and agony we all suffer is so not fun..If I had one wish it would be..to box up all of our pain and send it sailing on some long boat out to sea..Then gather us all RSD'ers,... our family here and have a "so long" osta la vista party...until this is possible..we must and will hang closely..together.. right here and smooth out the bumps for eachother..as you and everyone here mean the world to me...

Worse since the diagnosis of RSD. But, again, I carry my stress there. I've been told that we can manifest our RSD in our jaws. Don't know why but it makes sense to me. My TMJ doesn't interfere with my eating...my narcotic intake does!!! Once I eat something, and, well you know.....
