You can go to Fox News.com and find the story. It is accidental overdoses they are talking about.
One thing they said happens is people go to the Dr. and instead of delving into the problem, he just hands out prescriptions. That goes back to them not wanting to take the time to deal with the patient. It's an interesting story to read. It doesn't blame the people for being drug addicts. That's a first. Ada |

Okay, I'm kind of joking on this.........
Why couldn't I find a doctor who was handing out the narcs when I needed some ??????? Those of us dealing with chronic pain can have such a hard time finding a doctor who will take our complaints seriously. It's frustrating to me to hear that some docs are doling stuff out likes it's candy. |

Those Drs. are out there. We have a PM Dr. in our area that has gotten 3 people I know addicted to Oxycontin. I ask one of them how often she saw him. Once a year and he mails her the script. I saw him once and I think he can figure out the ones he can get hooked on those meds because he's the one that said I needed to come to his rehab at 10,000. cash. Another friend of mine got addicted at 63 by him. The church tried to intervene and her friends and family. Her family finally moved her back home to help her. I call him a pill pusher and now he also pushes the SCS.
They are also talking about Dr. shopping. I know that goes on too from what I have seen from some people I know. That 63 year old friend of mine was seeing my Dr. and he didn't know she was getting meds from him and this PM. When he found out he gave her a choice to bring in a list of her meds or he wouldn't see her anymore. She chose to leave him after 15 years. My PCP gets all of my paperwork from other Drs. I see to it so he can know I am not looking for other meds. I think too, these Drs. donot want to see these patients as often as they should to keep up with their meds and make sure the patient is doing ok on them so they hand the meds out and move on to the next patient. I do think too, there is a different kind of person doing this. I would say people like a lot of us come off differently then those looking for meds. They know how to get the job done to get them from different Drs. This one friend of mine that sees this Dr. went to the ER to get meds and she attacked a nurse and the police had to haul her out. She still sees this Dr. for meds too. I doubt that he knows this happened. The people who need the help doesn't get it and I'm wondering how long it will be before it gets even harder for us to get the meds we need. Ada |

I am always worried when one of my doc adds a new med to my regimine. I have two little kids and do not want to be zombified or dead of a overdose. They keep reasurring me that they are all safe to take together. I ask my phyciatrist when he was going to add more meds if this was going to be a michael jackson. I just wanted sleep but not at the cost of my life. Sometimes I just feel like they are pushing more and more meds on me. I just want to have my pain managed and get some sleep. I just don't think it is going to take a mix of god only knows how many meds. If you could control my pain I just don't feel like all these other symptons would be so bad.

Has anyone heard/seen/experienced an overdose of meds injected (missing the well and going straight into tissue) by neurologist office?
I know this is a different situation than a physician handing out multiple scripts, but am curious to see if anyone's had this happen to them. Thanks!! |

Also, do some research on Rozerem, and check with your doc. I ended up feeling addicted to Ambien when I used it years ago, but Rozerem doesn't seem to be habit forming, at least for me, and I don't feel a narcotic effect from it. |

haha!!! I tootttalllly agree (in a joking manner) my doctor is wonderful, but is against narcotics for my pain. When i am in excruciating REAL pain, he tells me to exercise... and other people OD on meds... Its amazing how some people can do this! Having worked for doctors, I know alot of doctors would just give it to the patient to shut them up... but yes. I liked your joke : )
