Hello all..
I am at a loss.. Can anyone can recommend a good sunscreen that works for you..As you all know, our RSD has such an impact on our skin . I burn very very quickly no matter what I use.. I don't spend time in the sun wishing for color but my worse RSD leg takes up the burn very quickly in a very little amount time... I look a bit Lobster-ish..and it sure hurts..... Hi Kathy,
I burn easy too and I think some of the medications make our skin more sensative to the sun. I use Aveeno 30 or 45 or Coppertone 50 waterproof. Both have prevented me from burning. momof4 |

I use Aveeno 70 SPF... it's a spray on... in a white with orange can.
It comes out as a mist... love it! Most spray on things... anti-perspirant, deoderant, perfumes, etc...come out too fast and sting when they hit my skin... this didn't.

I always used Coppertone waterproof 48. Then, this year, I had a gift certificate to a store that sells Burt's Bees products. I love their stuff... and I bought some of their sunscreen. I have very sensitive, allergic skin, and the coppertone stuff often burned when applying, even to non RSD areas. The Burts Bees does not. They also make a nice after sun cream that really takes the burn out when I forget to use sunscreen.

Well I have been spending very little time out but if I do I am gong to get the maker of my cream the dermatolgist suggested but thy carry a sunscreen. I can't tolerate the smell or feel of like lotions etc but the brand vani cream I can it helps with my dry skin too. I saw they make sun screen and there products are for sensitive skin. They have it at Walgreens and it is cheap the lotion anyway.

If you can take some arnica the oral tablets it will help your burns heal. Arnia worked really good on me when I got so sunburned It blistered on my chest. You can buy the arnica at a bunch of stores, health food stores for sure have it. It is like teething tablets you just put and let disolve in your mouth.

I had no idea Arnica would help with sunburn! I have an arnica gel as well as the little tablets.

Hi Kathy,
I like you burn like crazy when in the sun. Since I have had RSD (for over 5 years now) I just do not go out in the sun because I wear a pain patch and I can't get my body warm else the medicine releases too much and it can cause death. So, I now have translucent skin and I am whiter than copy paper!!! I found Vaseline Intensive Care-Healthy Body Glow. It is moisturizer with a touch of self tanner and it works real good on my fair skin. Plus, I don't get dizzy like when I go outside in the heat and it looks great. It does come off in the bath but you can start again and put it on every day. My skin is not as dry as when I use it and I look much healthier and feel better too. I don't resemble a ghost too:.) Also, make sure you can go in the sun first before doing so because some meds say you should not. Best of luck, kathy d |
