I've been scheduled for a popliteal block next Wednesday for the pain in my RSD left lower limb/foot/ankle.
The original plan was to do a Bier block to the foot but there is too much edema to locate a vein in the foot to administer the lidocain.. The popliteal block is given at the back of the knee to the common peroneal nerve (I think) in order to numb the lower limb and foot. The numbness will last from 12 to 18 hours? Wouldn't it be great if this process would re-boot (no pun intended ![]() Oh well, I can dream on, it gives me hope! ![]() Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this procedure! Sending hugs ![]() Hope4thebest xo |

I don't have any experience with that kind of block.
But I did want to wish you the very best of luck with your newest efforts in fighting this beast. Good luck and hang in there.... Much love, Sandy Quote:

I can't relate to the "block" .. but I will share with you that I use this location for placement of my Lidoderm patches when my feet and knees act up with alot of pain.
This link shows the nerve distribution behind the knee and down the leg: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread118240.html 3D rotating pictures: http://www.healthline.com/vpbody/ner...-spine-to-foot

Hi Sandy and Mrs. D!
Thanks for your good wishes and information!! The three-D image of the nerves of the leg was really helpful in following the flow of the nerve block..and helpful with effective placement of lidoderm patches. The 7th and last sympathetic lumbar block I had stirred up flare and burn and I sure hope this popliteal block doesn't do the same..I hope it doesn't make those major nerves angry ![]() ![]() Grateful hugs from Hope4thebest xox |
