Hannah, look up 'Trigeminal Neuralgia Symptoms' on the internet. How are you doing?

HI I am sorry about your pain. Did your pain doc state what he felt you should do? Did you go back to the oral surgeon for a check of your mouth to just make sure that on that front it looks ok and there is not another reason besides an infection that could be causing this? I wish I had more answers. I hope you get relief and you are in my thoughts

Does anybody have any advice at all???? I have had blood taken for to make sure that I had no infection. And everything came back normal, I have had no fever, but just HORRRRIBLE HORRRIBLE pain. it goes from my throat area to my jaw up to my ear, my cheak and it hurts to put my hair in a ponytail because its pulling on some hairs... on that side of my head. I have never shook this bad or twitched this bad. It doenst feel like RSD pain though, its not burning in my mouth... but my rsd symptoms on my right side are worse until I had the infusion. The only thing I still have besides my normal rsd muscle achy pain is the bad twitching. am i making any sense? can someone help me? My mouth is so bad, I have no idea what to do. Its been 2 and a half weeks and I would have thought the pain would have gone by now

Hi Hannah,

So sorry to hear of your situation. I talked to my pain doc who in short said (based solely off of your post) this is a classic Trigeminal or Maxillary N. issue, a really bad one. A couple of N. blocks could be tried but usually Fascio-maxillary pain of this sort ends up with an Implantable nerve stimulator. Patients do well with it.

If you want to PM me, I can put you in contact with him. He is north of you around 45 minutes or so.

Here is a thread started just yesterday by a great friend here talking about this very thing.....

Just an FYI, not implying this is what you'll have to have done......
It's just good to know we've got so many bases covered here at NT....

Hannah,

I feel so bad for you. Twice when I had a tooth pulled I got what dentist call a "dry socket" it is extremely painfull. From what I understand the a dry socket is when the blood does not clot properly after a tooth is pull. Call him and ask him I bet thats what happened. Good Luck....

I so appreciate everyones thoughts and prayers,,, Its taken me awhole to reply because im shaking so bad and I havent been able to type.

My mom called that dentist in new york, and he said it sounds like just excruciating pain post wisdom teeth and my rsd just flared it up and is causing all this pain in my mouth. And my pain dr said that the shaking and twitching is the rsd flared up because it has a muscular component to rsd being that I had my wisdom teeth out my rsd has flared to all the shaking and twitching. I had the ketamine infusion which saved my body from the burning but i still have the twitching and shaking. The dentist in new york said it is goin gto take months and months to go away but for sure under a year.

Wendy: Yes they did give me extra anesthetic afterwards. He actually gave me ketamine during the surgery and then alot of extra afterwards. Apparently the anestesiologist is the best in LA/Beverly hills area. His name was Dr. andrew chen I think... His last name is chen for sure but i dony know about his first name

Jeanie: I am watching the pain meds. We did ask the dr if that would cause a problem, but he said if we take you off all of them your RSD will flare up full force and we want to keep it as low of a flare as we could right now.

It is not dry socket for sure. The dentist took an x-ray and as much as he could see in my mouth he said that its not dru socket. He told me a bunch of stuff but I cant remember anythin because im in so much pain I can barely remember anything let alone talk.

AGAIN, THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR all of your time you put into replying. I cant type anymore as i am shaking and i had to have my sister type over half of this. I pray everyone has low pain and he comforts everything with all of their relationships with family and friends.

Hannah..Now were talking the same language..I too have RSD in my jaw..rt. side bottom. it extends from the mid portion to the back..better than half of my lower part of my jaw..I understand and relate to the obnoxious pain..and yes, it does last for weeks once it begins...I usually end up eating soft chow until it subsides... it is not full time pain as my rt. leg but it does hurt terrible..mine was a result of having a root canal.....
I am so incrdeibly sorry hannah... Let me know what I can do..
Love, Kathy
