I am having surgery Wednesday. It's not going to be an easy one, not a one day thing. They do know I have RSD and they intend to do a block before surgery. I will talk to the Anesteologist before I go into surgery.
They will go in at 3 different places with laproscopy and then make an incision to cut a nerve. I had my pre-op today and she did tell me that I would not come home until my surgeon and PCP felt it was ok. I feel like I am in pretty good hands so whatever comes out of it, I feel it's meant to be. Hopefully it will be successful in stopping this left side pelvic pain. I know a lot of people on here don't believe in surgery for RSD patients, but you just do what is needed when the time comes. Ada |

Best of luck with your surgery ! My pain mgmt Doc has told me if I have any elective surgeries he wanted to be involved with discussing my RSD with surgeons , treating physician , etc. . He also mentioned he would talk with the anesteologist to administer a dosage of ketamine during the procedure if possible . Just some things to consider , as only you know what is best for your situation....Take care and once again good luck !

Ada, like I said before, good luck with your surgeries. Try and put yiur mind in some completely relaxing place as they put you under, that might help relax you.
Try and see your insides getting the attention they need, maybe try to imagine them being healthy , just a thought. I wish you the very best care possible and hopefully a real difference in your pain. Good Luck. Wendy |

RUReady, my PCP is my RSD Dr. He has been the whole time. He knows what we are doing and will be in to check on me and a phone call away the whole time. He has actually assisted in a couple of my surgeries to see what was going on in me. My surgeon has been seeing me for 3 months so he knows my whole situation and is very up on things too. The last surgery I had, they filled the area full of lidocaine because it was too high up on my neck for a block and it worked.
Jim, this nerve is not causing the RSD pain. It's causing nerve pain. One spot so they pretty much know it's the culprit. Wendy, I do just that. I have a positive attitude about this surgery. I know I am in good hands. We'll see. Thanks for the prayers. Those I will take all you have. Ada |

Ada, Best of luck with your surgery. I pray that you will find the relief that you seek and do not cause a RSD flare. Lisa

I just wanted to say hi and let you know how I'm doing.
I went into this surgery thinking it was one of those bounce back over night surgeries that I have had. This one hasn't been. The pain is relieved in the areas we wanted it to. I'm still bloated from where they put air in my stomach to look around and the surgerical area is still very sore when I get up and move around. Yesterday I went out for awhile with a friend and I most likely shouldn't have done it. When I talked to my Dr. Friday he laughed at me when I said I should be well by Monday. He says I have to schedule everything, even getting well. I am on my Methadone so that has made me nauseated at times due to not being use to it. Also the Amitiza makes me nauseated when I first start it and I had to go off of it for the surgery so that could be a problem too. It's just been kind of frustrating to me due to the fact that I do bounce back from surgery pretty fast. Also when you feel like you have things to get done you just get more frustrated. I have been staying in bed mostly since the surgery. When I get up, it hurts where the surgery was and the swelling. Kind of lonely today since everyone is busy doing their thing and I am still laying here in bed. It's not been my thing for a couple of years since I have gotten better with my RSD and other problems. Also, a friend of mine ask me if this would solve my stomach problems or my constipation problems. No, it won't. We just have to take things one at a time like we have to take life one day at a time. I hope all of you are having a good Sunday. Ada |
