Thanks a bunch for the continued advice. I have worked outside for 23 years so layering is second nature to me. But maybe you could help me understand the correlation between the sweating and RSD.
I don't sweat. It is an issue. I have to constantly spritz myself with water in the summer or I overheat. Now, I do sweat in extreme heat in my crevices and folds(too much info, I know), but to cool myself it doesn't happen. My issue is cold. My average temp is 97.4. The other night it was 96.2. I have difficulty getting warm, to say the least. I always have 3 times as many clothes on as anyone else. During menopause, I had severe waves of cold instead of hot flashes. I had a few of the hot flashes, I thought they were pretty cool. ![]() ok, I hate shoes, I hate socks, I hate most anything that presses on my foot/feet. I have size 8 boots(2 sizes bigger than normal) to wear when I go out with layered socks. Three pair is too many, too much pressure. I don't go out to walk, just for transport to another location. Why don't you want cotton against your skin? Causes you to sweat? I feel like the cotton socks irritate my skin. I'm trying to work this out. Staying home seems the best option. I stay in the car most of the time anyway. I have trouble with nylon too because it moves around too much, or maybe I do. I'm developing a slipper fetish. I have yet to try crocks, I don't go out to try any. Someone said I might like them. Thanks again for all your info. I'm gonna go check out the patagonia site. Then I'm due for a soak. have a peaceful evening, pat Last edited by gramE; 12-10-2010 at 08:13 PM. Reason: I hit the wrong button |

Thanks Pat,
I suppose I'm addressing most of us who have inappropriate perspiration, often triggered by the cold. You get cold, ya sweat, ya get a chill, and it all starts over, and drives the pain. I don't have much experience with lack of perspiration. Heat went off in my apt. last nite, woke up around 4AM, it was 55 in here. Called, got a call back @ 9AM. Still no service, so I had to turn on the gas burner for a while, (VERY Carefully). just a side story, but, as soon as I had a cup of warm tea, I was soaking wet with perspiration, while it's still cold in here. Back to the Patagonia Capilene, the silkweight might be very comfy for you... Be Well, Pete |

Thank you for this topic! Living where subzero temps are pretty much winter round (it's actually above zero right now even with wind chill though, lol), layering is almost necessary. Trying going out when it's -45 with wind chill and only a pair of jeans....it's not fun! I've spent the last 3 winters only venturing out when necessary since even a pair of sweatpants are torture.

now I don't know if you have an Alco store near you, but I just bought a pair of Chill Chasers. They aren't like thermals, they are soft and move gently against my skin. I haven't washed them yet, but they were ten dollars and I had a 30% off coupon which made them 7. As soon as I can go out again I'm hoping to pick up an extra pair. and the nice thing is they had black so it doesn't look so weird if it accidently gets out beneath my britches. I'm even wearing then under my pj pants when I'm really got the chills. I'm wide so I bought extra large, and it is nice because they don't hit my ankles when I walk. I'm not ready to say I love them, but I haven't had them off since I bought them. And they are slick so slacks don't stick to the like the smoother things.
may rest and quiet visit you tonight. |
