Default You might as well say I am new here

I have not been here much. I want to start stopping by here every now then to help me cope with this awful disease. I have developed RSD through carpel tunnel surgery. I have had this for over three years now. It did not start out small it just jumped right up there. All my upper extremites are affected except my face thank god. The RSD sure is making its rounds to my legs and my stomach. I have noticed a lot of changes in my vision and my body in a whole. To be honest I am terrified to even close my eyes. I am scared because my body is going through so much pain its not a level of 20 its more like 300. I just feel that since th epain is so great i may not even wake up. I am currently on no meds right now. As you heard before drs are a joke. I still go anyway, I will not give up. I have tried medications and its eems that everytime i take something it intensifys my pain. I a sahm for good. That is definitely not a bad thing. It gets boring and crazy seeing the same ole all the time. I don't go out much because im always tired and i need more assistance more than ever. I woud love to be part of your group and learn more about this crazy RSD and to make friends that are going through what I am. I have searched everywhere for groups around here and can't find any. There are tons of cases according to my attorney with people who has it. I asked him to ask them if they would like to share their numbers. Of course i heard nothing. Well here I am and I hope we can be good friends.

So very sorry you have to endure this disease. You take no meds at all? Surely there must be something or a combo of things that can help relieve the pain for you? Do you see a doctor at all? Simply put, you should not have to suffer untreated like this.

yes i see a dr every six weeks. He has no words for me because he is a plastic surgeon. Why they have me see him I don't know. Other doctors in my area don't specialize in this area. I would have to travel far to see a neurologist. I have not given up. I don't wish to wallow in it either. I do what i have with pain. Pray for more answers.

Who exactly is telling you to see a plastic surgeon for RSD? Other specialists to see are anesthesiologist, pain management doctors, those doctors who specialize in RSD. Many folks have had pretty good results using their primary care doctor. You could get good referals from your primary care doc. You could indicate on this board what part of the world or US your are located at or near and many here can then give you names of docs close to you perhaps.
I hope this helps!

Jim is right! You need help last year!!
there is no need to suffer like you are. you can get all kinds of meds to make life a bit more bearable. Please call your primary care doctor and get some help now. I dont know why you are seeing a plastic surgeon. i was sick for 2 years and my abdomen was swollen, so a plastic surgeon decided to cut off all the swollen tissue and maybe i would get better. well i went code blue after the operation. I became more ill and in pain then you can imagine. the swelling came back twice as big and that was in 2006 and i still havent recovered from that operation. So no matter what....dont let them operate on you!!!! unlesas you have done your research and you have no other choice.
Best wishes now call your doctor and get help tonight!
i am hurting for you!

I am sorry for all you are going through. I also am wondering why you are seeing a plastic surgeon. Who dx you with RSD? Have you had testing to rule out other conditions? I agree with everyone getting into a doctor who deals with rsd is important. I also feel the neurologist is important to rule out other conditions too. Where do you live? I knowit is hard to travel cause I have done it to see doctors. I think though if you can and if someone could go with you or drive you it may be the only way to relief. I would encourage you to look into that.

You are right Daniella, the drive is difficult but for a caring compassionate doctor worth the cost.

I made the 70 mile drive yesterday, takes me about 80 minutes but on the way home it was white-out snowing, no center line, no lines on the side to be seen. My 80 minute trip turned into a 110 minute nightmare. But I was happier than I've ever been to be home!!!
