For months I was having frequent infections that would not go away (until now) and that is what my neurologist believes caused my CRPS,which effects all of my lower body.

I also told her about how stupid and young I am (only 20) and recently went to a rave where I did ecstasy for the second time.

Could my irresponsibility in that regard cause this horrible disease? My doctor said we got it very early (only had this for a month tops more likely less) and that we can possibly reverse it into remission, but the more research I do the more scared I am.

I'm really depressed and have no idea how I am going to function in regular life again. I have a new boyfriend I have been avoiding because it's too painful to even sit around and talk with him let alone imagining if he wanted to have sex with me.

I'm just so lost and destroyed as a human being right now. I just need my life back again.

Ecstasy can most certainly cause depression. It has a profound effect on serotonin, and low levels of serotonin are found in chronic pain states.

I can certainly understand your feelings and despair.

If you search ecstasy + serotonin, you can provide that to your doctor. Perhaps some medication to support you for a while will help.

So wait does that mean it could have instigated or caused the CRPS? I'm aware of the serotonin issue, but could it have caused the other?

I can't answer that part. No one knows what causes RSD in some people and not others.

There are hints, that it is an inflammatory process that sets it off. Some studies from Britain done on trauma and surgical patients for ankle or wrist surgery avoided RSD when given Vit C in doses of 500mg a day or 1000mg a day for 50 days.

That seemed to block the process somehow. Also there are some papers showing early use of nifedipine or similar calcium channel blockers may help in the early stages.

But the actual reasons for the cause remain elusive.

By paying attention to the chronic pain issue you may reduce your pain levels, by fixing the serotonin levels. Serotonin is involved in the perception of pain signals in the brain.

You have complex issues, in other words.

And also if you were given fluoroquinolones for those infections, those drugs cause neuropathies. Our PN forum has information about that.
Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox mostly. Also Zyvox and Flagyl (metronidazole) have done it by other mechanisms.
