Hi Karen67 and Jimbo,
Thanks for your support about my book! It made my day. Karen...an rsd book specifically for spouses would be great. I am not to good in that area because I have been single for many years but I do have a great deal of experience with my son dealing with this all for many years as well as my family and friends (or should I say a LACK of dealing with this all haha). And me close to death last year after ketamine and the ICU...well I have another new perspective on it all. Believe me this will be a very true and honest book about EVERYTHING we go through in life with rsd. I am not leaving anything out. I will definately post a note here to let everyone know when it is available. I am going to give some proceeds to rsd research and my other goal is to get my book to all medical schools or teaching hospitals. I need to make as many aware of rsd in the medical field as possible as I am sure we have all heard so many wrong things we are told. I feel it is my life's goal to write this book as it means so much to me. Hope all have a better few days with much less pain. Take care, kathy d |

Karen, I sometimes think it is harder on my husband than me. But my pain management dr made a statement that I related to my husband that really seemed to help. Doc said when I said my husband had some questions, "your husband wants to know when he is getting his wife back!". Putting it in that stark statement helped me realise from my hubbie's perspective what he was thinking. When I recounted this conversation to him, the look on his face was all I needed to know that truly was his question. Getting it out in the open has been very helpful. And has helped him accept that this is where we are now, so having a wheel chair, doesn't mean I will always need a wheel chair but right now it does give me a better quality of life. I can go shopping and not get stuck in the car because the store has no chair and we can walk the dogs together because I found a great deal on a mobility scooter.
So for us, acceptance of where we are now has been a big hurdle that we've gotten over. Now we are getting on with our journey fwd, there are a few more irons in the fire but we have an attorney helping with them. God has blessed us, and now that we are unstuck on this path with CRPS, we are again enjoying our blessings. With Hope in God, pat

Do you belong to RSDSA.org? There is a lot of information there. If you decide to try ketamine, I would recommend books by Barby Taylor who has had much luck with ketamine and has written about her journey.
