Hi,
For the outpatient ketamine infusion procedures, is blood drawn needed? Why and how often? IV will be needed every time. For those of you have either full body and all limbs RSD, where did they put your IV? Did the IV make your symptoms worse? What about the blood pressure cuff? Can they put that in your calf? I have RSD in all limbs from the IV hitting a nerve fiber in 2007. Now, i have new RSD pain and worsening of old RSD pain from a recent blood drawn. So i am so scared of needles. Did the IV or blood drawn make your RSD worse? Please share your experiences and thanks so much. I need some guidances. Numb |

[QUOTE=numb;812738]Hi,
For the outpatient ketamine infusion procedures, is blood drawn needed? Why and My daughter gets her IV in her opposite arm and has had no problems. Others get ports installed if they are getting K on a regular basis. My daughter gets her bp taken on her leg which causes her the least problems. The important thing is to relax and let the ketamine work for you. Take an Ipod and some dark glasses and try to tune out the noises around you. |

Blood draws are not needed when you have outpatient. Today I had #50, and I've never needed one prior. I have been sent for routine blood work on a regular basis, but that is done at a lab, not at the office where I get my treatments.
I had a port implanted 3 weeks ago for my infusions. When there are problems accessing veins, ports can be used to make administering infusions easier. there are several patients with ports at my RI doctors' office, they all work well. Mine happens to problematic and may need to come out-it caused a terrible flare and the group that implanted it thinks it could be infected. My left arm can handle a blood pressure cuff if it's not too tight. the measurements are done every half hour or so. For my lidocaine infusions, the hospital in Boston used to use my left leg and I found that to be much more painful. Good luck to you and let me know if you have any other questions. Xoxox Sandy |

[My daughter has RSD in her right arm and slightly in her chest and right leg. The ketamine has worked wonders. At times her pain has gone from a 10 to a 0 and stayed like that for several weeks. Inpatient was first. She has had it twice but the first time did not work.We attribute that to the fact she was on Lyrica and pain meds. Once she went off both she got total relief. Now she gets a booster for 2 or 3 days every few months.
I highly recommend Barby Ingles books about RSD and ketamine available at Amazon or thru her Power of Pain foundation. She is a great source of information and a total ketamine success story. |

I think someone on here has put up a list. I get my info from The Ketamine Klub for RSD/Crps on FB. It has all the info in one spot...doctors, billing codes,etc and is very informative.
