Default I feel like a weather forecaster...

Boy it's starting to rain here. I knew it was coming. My RSD hand is ice cold and burning at the same time. It's vary cold to the touch but painful when I do the slightest touching. I hate this!
I can just imagine how much more pain I would be in if it wasn't for the Lyrica I take. I know that some of you if not all go through the same thing. I just needed to vent. It helps...

P.S.: Thanks for listening...

Hi Jimbo,
I hear ya...I have gotten so good with my weather forecasts that my friends and family will sometimes call me and say "What do you feel like?" and "Is bad weather coming?" Years ago I could forecast it a week before but the last two years I have it down to two days before any kind of weather change. I can give you a 1/2 hour to an hour window of when the rain/snow will actually fall!! lol. It is crazy I agree. Funny you say ya'll got the rain already in NC. I was sitting watching tv earlier tonight about 9 pm and thought it was strange my right foot (initial site of injury) was burning hot and it is usually ice cold and burning until 2 am. I thought it strange but since you said the rain it made me think the rain is almost here in PA. I am sure we are all better than the guys we see on tv that "think" they know when the bad weather is coming. We all know for sure when it will be here. The worst storms are the ones hitting now...the weather has turned from hot/humid to cold/damp (yucky)...then you add a Canadian cold front coming down here and it gets right into my bones. Winter seems to be the worst of all seasons for me too. Hang in there...Spring is only six months away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just said this to my husband this morning! It has been such a weird summer and fall with the strange weather activity where I live. This one story is the craziest pain/weather episode that I've experienced in my three years with RSD..

It was a beautiful end of summer day. They were calling for storms later in the evening, but I didn't have my usual pain/swelling/achy/burning...I took my dogs outside and they were playing with each other when out of nowhere a black cloud started forming over the river near my house. I took them inside and prepared myself with a few pain pills and a xanax. When the storm hit, it hit hard! It was like someone just started punching me with a basball bat and burning my leg with a hot poker while pushing it into my leg bone. I couldn't walk or stand up; I felt like I was going to vomit. My son said that my face was white and I looked like I was going to pass out. This is when the video camera would have come in handy.

With all that said, I certainly have kept a close eye on any weather activity in our area (even though my body usually tells me first, but not that time!!)...when I first was diagnosed my neuro told me NOT to get on the internet and look anything up about RSD, (for fear of me developing symptoms by the power of suggestion.) That was in 2008 and when I couldn't stand it any longer, I found this forum and it really saved my life and helped so greatly with my mental health. If I had't found it, I would still be lying on my couch, in the dark, begging my husband to admit me to the mental ward!

And here I was expecting to hear you had gone to the tanning salon today, had your teeth bleached, and found a lovely new plaid sports coat...

I've been trying to inject levity whenever possible lately, and Jimbo is always such a good sport, that he makes it so easy to tease him!

Picking on you implies you're a victim. And how ANYONE can claim that while wielding something as DANGEROUS as a Dancing Chilli Pepper, in an RSD forum, is beyond me! Capsacin is scary stuff, sir!

Default Can totally relate

I can relate totally. Weather/Temp. change is always the biggest trigger for me. I sympathies with everyone I just hope this is not a sign of what this winter will be. Huh.....

What does help for me is if it's hot I use an ice pack if it's cold I use a heating pad. Since my injury I have always had trouble with my arm being super cold then super hot.

I hope everyone has a pain free day.
