Hi Everyone! i think I need to start considering a Dragon Program--typing is really taking a toll on my habds/RSD...
Can anyone out there who uses Dragon tell me about the pro's/cons, etc? Also--is it compatible with wireless lap-tops? Don't have one yet, but might be considering one soon! Have nooooooo clue about "technical things"...so your suggestions, experience, etc. are very much appreciated!! ![]() Most Sincerely, Brokenwings |

I use it. It's really good. Also have a track ball. Have you tried hotkeys and deskpins? also good. I also use Dasher but have an eye mouse.
Hope it helps - try Dragon (9 - much better version) Love Frogga (Sorry, not really around at the moment - pain is so dreadful and symptoms are alot LOT worse) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

wired or wireless won't matter - Dragon is a software program that runs on the computer hard drive.
You do need to have a good amount of memory on your computer {RAM} and a fast enough CPU speed - see package/box for minimum requirements also i have found that a good microphone and a good sound card are needed for the best results. http://www.digitalriver.com/v2.0-img...n/stndrd_9.htm many buy it from resellers or ebay System Requirements * Intel® Pentium® / 1 GHz processor (for example, Pentium® M, Pentium® 4), or equivalent AMD® processor - Faster processors will yield faster performance * 512 MB RAM * 1 GB free hard disk space * Microsoft® Windows® XP (SP1 or higher) Home and Professional, 2000 (SP4 or higher) * Creative® Labs Sound Blaster® 16 or equivalent sound card supporting 16-bit recording * Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5 or higher (free download available at www.microsoft.com) * CD-ROM drive (required for installation) * Nuance-approved noise-canceling headset microphone (included) * A web connection is required for activation During the install process the software checks to make sure your system meets these minimum requirements. If you do not meet the requirements, the software will not be installed. tips and info- http://www.synapseadaptive.com/joel/index_old.html

Thanks Jo--I hope i can get something set up soon! is it hard for the Dragon to recognize technicla words? Or, is there sort of a "learning curve" for the Dragon (and me?!) Well, at this point, any less typing would be a big help!!!
Thank you again for the list of what is needed!!!! ![]() Sincerely, Brokenwings |

plantronics folding headset is very good.
it does take practise. but it's great once it's sorted - I do almost of my stuff with it - otherwise I have to use stupid typing splints. Good luck! as Jo says wireless doesn't affect it. Love Frogga xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I use it here. It works pretty well. It does have its moments, but with the amount of pain my hands are in, I will take it having its moments.
Gentle hugs, Rain ![]()

I have the Via Voice- but use it only at times.
you can tweak the settings/option/preferences as to sensitivity and recognition preciseness. you should be able to set it to learn as you use it more too. have a big glass of water nearby cause you can overuse the voice at first too.
