I have had severe swelling right from the start of my RSD. It was so bad at one point my doctor thought I had a blood clot.

As to the block, I have had 2 and they both made me worse. One made me loose my coordination (couldn't walk - spent 13 months in a wheelchair) and the other made me develop severe myoclonic muscle spasms. I was later told that blocks can make RSD worse and aren't recommended, especially if in an RSD limb so that may be something to look into.

So sorry to hear about everything your husband is going through, I hope things get better soon. Tell him to keep moving no matter how much it hurts (and trust me I KNOW it does!) as hopefully that will help with the swelling.

Take care and let us know how he gets on!
Alison.
