I believe the first thing to do is decide on a date to actually do the walk. Then get your friends and family involved, at least the ones willing anyways. The next thing is to find sponsors, I would suggest trying pepsi or coke. They have deep pockets, and they can help by making all the signs. They also like to do charitable events especially ones that are very public like a walk.
Then it is all about going around getting the word out, signing up folks to walk, and getting them to get sponsors, like from their employers, friends, family, or othr business that would like the exposure your creating. Remember that you can advertise your event in the newspaper free, and even on the radio and TV. Look for community calenders to put your event on. There is also a RSD group in My Space that is holding a walk here in Ca, that im sure if you join up they will be glad to answer any questions you might have. http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm?...A9C8A232305734 Glad to see you! Sooo glad your thinking of getting something going!!! Good luck to ya ![]()

We will be doing our second walk for a cure this year in Minnesota. Last year it was very successful! This year it will be held at the Mall of America instead of outdoors. It was windy, hot, and humid last year and many were unable to walk to even attend due to the hypersensitivity.
It does take a lot of work to get it organized. Between printing out the donation forms, registering everyone, finding insurance as most places require liability (in MN anyway), ordering hats and/or t-shirts and media coverage...it's a lot. We have a committee that works on this only due to the amount of work involved. Great idea to check with other local organizations and either team up or get ideas. Please be sure and delegate. Good for you for doing this!!! We need a cure. We deserve a cure. You are making a difference for everyone... Bonnie |
