since i've started culinary school i've been in the biggest flare i've been in for the last three years.
i got a morphine, toradol, zofran, injection on tuesday, with little help.
she also gave me sprix nasal spray, becuase of my major swelling.
anybody got anything to say good or bad, or was it just a waste of 150 bucks?
i've tried looking on line and i cant find much linking the sprix with helping RSD pain or swelling.

From what I read Sprix is a short term NSAID. It states do not use more then 5 days. (not sure what happens after that). This is an anti-inflamatory which they do help with swelling, but I don't imagine you would get much result in the way of pain relief if the morphine did not touch you.

My neuro gave me a script for Sprix when I was in a flare. It was really expensive, and burns like fire in the nose. I used one bottle - meaning one days worth. I didn't see a change, so didn't try more.

Then, a few months later, I was having another rough spot. I happened to think of it, and this time, used 2 days worth - and did get relief. Regular pain meds don't do much for me, so I rarely take them. I was glad to have something to get relief.

Is it worth the cost? not so sure.

I over did it yesterday. I was just thinking about getting the Sprix out of the fridge and giving it a try, when I came here and saw your question.

YES!! it burnt so bad in my nose, jokily i told my boyfriend that's what it must feel like when you take something else up your nose! haha. yes it was very expensive. did you use the 2 days worth, in one day?

I used to be able to get pre-measured 1 cc vials of Toradol (ketorolac is the generic name) to use to give myself injections when I needed them during bad flares, they helped me to fall asleep. The nurse at my my doctor's office taught me how to give myself the injections. Toradol is an awesome anti-inflammatory. It is often the med that is used in ERs in IV's for treatment of severe pain. Until Sprixx came along, the only way that Toradol could be administered was by injection or IV. I find that Sprixx really burns too much for me to use. I still have 2 left.

WC has refused to refill my vials of Toradol, and my United Healthcare doesn't include it in their formulary, so I have been unable to obtain it for several months. It totally sucks. Just one more thing for my attorney to take to court, WHEN I can get my doctor to write something for me....

No, I don't use two bottles in one day. I use it as directed, one spray each side of nose, every 6-8 hours.

What I meant was, instead of just using it one day, I found by using it two dayside a row, it helps. The Neuro said I could use it for 5 days, but to start a fresh bottle after 24 hours.

I think part of my problem is getting started on something before I get really deep in a flare. I keep putting of taking anything, and if I would start meds when I first think "I am getting into a flare" I could get ahead of it.
