Hi all -
I'm wondering if any of you have experience you can share regarding FAR Infrared Saunas for pain relief with RSD? I've seen different infrared products mentioned from time to time in the different forums & I was considering getting a personal sauna for my husband who was diagnosed nearly 7 years ago now. Unfortunately I've not been able to locate anyone locally that has one so we can't do a test run first. I'd be curious to hear everyones thoughts. Thanks so much!! |

I just read that some FIR saunas might not be all that great , the cheaper materials used in them may exude chemicals that you don't want.
It was suggested the the FIR lights may be a better, safer & less expensive choice. Plus the lamps are portable , and if it doesn't work it is easier to return or resell that a large sauna. If a lamp does work, then that would give a better idea that a full sauna would work also. I should have bookmarked where I read that info.. ![]() I have a Far infrared heating pad and have had it since 2005 - we find it does do more for us than a regular heating pad. ![]() I don't have RSD though, more of a chronic RSI/TOS/mild myofascial pain syndrome. Dh has a knee that he injured last summer and uses it when it gets sore. You may want to look at some of these products - http://www.toolsforwellness.com/far-infrared.html https://healiohealth.com/subCategory/index/105 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...+infrared+lamp

I have used one. It worked well on reducing my swelling in particular. I really liked the combo of massage, then sauna. It was much more effective than a regular sauna, btw.
I went to infrared sauna sessions at a local tanning salon, which I found through an Internet search. You should be able to contact the manufacturer you're interested in, and see if they have a place for you to test one of their machines out locally. You might find one at a spa or fitness center, as well. This is one of those things that might help slightly lower his pain levels. Taking daily baths with Epsom salts might work just as well, though... Good luck. |
