I remember being so nervous about my QME, especially because my WC insurance company is playing hard ball. Just be honest about your pain. Don't hide it. If you're nervous because you're worried that they aren't going to believe your pain, tell the doctor that. Just be honest and it might help to type out a list if there are things that you want him/her to know.
Good luck!! |

hey I'm in ny and my red is comp. all you can do is you are requested to go to and IME(insurance medical exam) is be truthful and do not go alone. make sure you have some one with you who can support you while waiting and after exam. I know I have atty,s handling my comp case, and i also see a lot of dr,s all who agree on my multiple dx,s including RSD/CRPS. and it doesn't matter how many times i see this IME quack he always says the same thing (alleged RSD/CRPS) funny cause one of the times he examined me he didn't warn me where he was going to touch and he wound up getting hit by by natural reaction to protect the area. You can't fake that. listen you know what is going on and as long as you have dr,s to back the DX and you are truthful you will be ok. And usually these IME dr,s make many mistakes because you are not there patient and they are just trying to get you in and out. Good luck

Exactly. Essentially, you treat it like a deposition. It's a medical-legal eval. (Our natural reaction is to assume all docs care about our health and making us better. It rarely applies in this type of exam.)

Good luck today. It's true...all you can do is be honest. If it's a bad work comp doc then they're going to do what they're going to do anyway to cast doubt on you and your situation. I had 2 bad ones and 1 good one...so you never know. Thankfully the first one I ever saw was good and confirmed my diagnosis of RSD. But the good news is that despite how the work comp docs shade their reports, judges see that a lot so as long as you are honest and don't get caught is any lies that would really cast doubt on your character it will be alright in the end. Good luck today and I hope that you get one of the decent ones.
