I was told to go to a 2nd opinion doctor. He totally blew away my neurological doctors findings. Now I have pain down both shoulders, cervogenic headache, DDD of low back and neck. Two surgeries on left shoulder; doctor is bow saying will need to be replaced. Now workers comp is denying fusion of C4/C5 and low back pain stim unit. I have tried to work through it all and now I am missing days of work and feel like they are trying to get me to quit. Any ideas on how to get the 2nd opinion workup thrown out? He is going against a top neuro surgeon and top shoulder doctor.

Oh, Rattle,
How innocent and true are your words. So many here can truly understand your problem. The 2nd opinion is in your medical history now. Most of us have a qualified doctor like that, that did us like that. If one of you doctors are reading this, I hope you realize how truly unfair your opinion was that day. What you said in your report really did make a difference in my treatment, in negative ways, for many years to come. I really needed medical attention and your help!!!! It made a difference in such a negative way, in so many ways in my life, I can only hope you get done a thousand times worse. Harsh? Nothing compared to what your unfair opinion did to me and many others, for yearssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. I do know how you feel, to have trusted and thought you were going to get help from a doctor and then get the shaft, like the doctor intentionally done it to you to cause you to lose, to lessen and humiliate you as a human being. That method is very effective for those undesirable results for a patient. So for those of you who chose to do a patient like that, hats off to you. You done a "good" job on me, Dr. Powell. I will never forget it and I do understand the impact it made!!!! I lived through it. You will too. It did cause me to lose so much in so many ways, it's really disgusting that a real doctor does this for money and the selfish satisfaction of controlling the situation, for whatever your reason, and manipulating a patient's medical data into the no pay corner. Your reputation proves you out, who you are, too. But as the doctors who do this to patients, do you really know the lasting impact your bought opinion did to my life, or what a better life I could have had without your bought opinion? ("bought" meaning you got paid to use your training and experience to rob me of my medical rights, treatment, compensation and dignity.) Such a negative impact for victims to bear. Only those who have been done this way can possibly understand the lasting impact on a patient's health. There really should be studies done to document the impact of your game. Cussing the bad doctor helps for the moment, but I don't even like doing that. I've been cussing Dr. Powell for years. MVA 10-2000. Dr. Powell's visit 11-2001, I think. Abdondened his advice in '06 or '07. Been cussing him ever since. I know. I'm slow. I don't cuss him so much now since I'm not in so much pain 24/7. I took control and took the other doctors "recommended" advice. Sought other methods of care. Changed a lot of my bad habits. I did my part, once I figured out what was best for me. But I did wake up in pain, every morning from a MVA, and in the early dark hours of the morning, I did cuss you, Dr. Powell, then prayed about cussing you. Bad Medicine. Bad Karma. That one bad opinion is not the cause of my problems, but did cause some of my problems to be a lot worse. Such injustice! ! ! Just try to get past that and get help, my friend. It will be ok... ![]()

Explore our Workers comp forum - be sure to look thru the sticky threads at the top of the list there-
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum30.html If you have top drs on your side - their reputation will carry more weight than a IME drs report. Do you have a good atty representing you? a good one should address & discount the bad info by the IME doctor. by pointing out bad or incorrect info to the work comp side might make for a more favorable long term result. But wc isn't an easy system to do yourself , esp if you have complicated injuries and surgeries and possible long term issues - and if you are getting the run around you need to interview -quite a few before choosing attys to represent your interests.

Hi. Quote: "If you have top drs on your side - their reputation will carry more weight than a IME drs report." What about these people, who were injured on the job or through a motor vehicle accident, who have a (or many) negative IME reports, but do not have top doctors on their side? Top doctors usually work in private hospitals, clinics, or offices, and unfortunately, many patients, especially the poor and/or uninsured ones, cannot afford them. These patients also hear a lot: "We do not take auto accidents." for example. What do these people do? Go home and cry? I know what it feels like to be rejected this way because, besides having THREE bad attorneys, who did not even give me the impression of defending me (they were saying better things about the person who injured me than about me), I had bad IME doctors. I also had to content myself with doctors who were not top doctors. So what now?

I do have good doctors. But they get frustrated with the amount of work they have to do extra for one patient. I just hired am attorney, but nothing yet. My back is so touchy that physical therapy injured me again and started severe muscle spasms from neck to low back. Now i wake up every day sick to my stomach and don't know why and my Fibromyalgia is off the charts bad. For some reason it appears I am having an attack of arthritis. In my hands and wrists, elbows etc. Something I have not had before. Can stress and injury cause arthritis to become severe? I work for the federal government and it is a disgrace what WC does. I was getting treated, I had 3 surgeries last year and neck fusion was also planned. Then they denied and told me they wanted a 2nd opinion. Who wasn't even a back specialist and didn't treat in his practice. No kidding he didn't even touch my neck to feel the constant spasms. He just denied and I have been getting worse for months. The surgery was requested in April. Second opinion wasn't until end of July. He didnt respond for a month. They made me travel 140 miles for the appointment. I honestly wondered if he was hand picked to deny. Like there is no doctors closer to where I live! In UT. Give me a break. Yea something really does need to be done to assist workers.

I had what i thought was a sudden increase in arthritis such as you describe. Turned out to be those serious side effects of statins in cholesterol drugs the fine print mentions. Are you on any, by any chance?
