Nuerotin has helped a lot of people, but it can have side effects. My Dr. put me on it for a while as part of a cocktail for migraine pain. It worked more like an anethesia than analgesic for me. I'd take it, never feel drowsy, but would wake up in my chair, still sitting with my upper body completely bent over and my head on the floor. My friends told me that I slurred words, used words in conversation that made absolutely no sense.
If you are having bothersome side effects, your Dr. needs to know. There may be a better option for you. You need rest, and if its keeping you up at night, it will catch up to you. This is a drug that you don't want to just stop abruptly. If you continue taking the drug and its benefits outweigh the side effects, when its time to stop taking it, ask about a taper. Sam |

Glad you are getting some response about this medication. Lots of people take the med here and do quite well. However it is also known to cause alot of side effects. I can't take the med. I tried three times, and felt awful. could not sleep, much the same as you. Also got depressed, and sick to my stomach. If you are having real trouble, sleep issues, call your doctor. sleeping well is so hard to do when a person has RSD or PN etc. to begin with. If the medication hurts you more than helps you, it is time to try something else. It really varries person to person. I really hope you get some relief, and find a medication that helps your symptoms. Ginnie

Neurontin has literally been a life saver for me. It decreases the frequency of the painful nerve misfirings, dampens the pain, enables me to tolerate light touch of clothing on my arm much of the day, and slows the muscle spasms so I can eventually fall asleep. I am on 3,300mg per day in addition to other nerve pain meds.
