just do not understand all this! I have rsd type 2 in hand and wrist due to median nerve surgery. its been 20 months and things are getting worse. I have went from working and enjoying my job and making a good income to not knowing if I will be able to keep working much longer. I talked with a attorney about a malpractice suite and found out yesterday that they think everything was done correctly. I was just delt a bad situation. anyone else had this issue.

Sad to say...but I think a lot of us with RSD have been where you are. Malpractice is hard when it comes to RSD I would imagine because it's so hard to prove that they did something wrong to CAUSE the RSD when ANYTHING can cause it. Many RSDers don't even know what caused their RSD to start because the injury was so incredibly minor (if there was one at all). So the docs could do everything right and it really may not be anyone's fault. Sucks...but there it is.

Any surgery is filled with risks and I know that I feel like I sign my life away (quite literally) every time I have to sign those forms before a procedure saying that I understand the risks. My RSD spread after a block that I got that was supposed to help the RSD in my ankle. The doctor never mentioned this possibility...but it's rare so I am not surprised. I never thought of going after him though because it's just one of those freak things. Where I have an issue with the doc is his refusal to treat me at all after the spread (as though I WERE suing him). I didn't blame him but I think he was so afraid of being sued that he just referred me to a neurologist and my primary care doctor and told me to go to the ER rather than have anything more to do with me.

And we all know what it is like to have our lives change so much after RSD. Many can't return to work at all and end up on disability. Not because they want to...they would much rather be working and never have heard of RSD...but because there is no other choice for them. I don't know if you have tried all the different treatments available out there but do you have any sort of disability leave at work? If you do then maybe it would be a good idea to use it and focus on your health for a while to see if you can find treatments that will help you. That's more or less what I did and it was a ROUGH year. I hated every minute of not being at work but it gave me the time to go through physical therapy, find the right doctors, get on the right treatments, and now after a year and a half off I am back at work. Still have RSD, still am in pain all day every day, but am able to function and have something approaching a more normal life. Might be something to look into, if you have any sort of medical leave.

Sorry you had such a bad day. Throughout my whole deal with work and work comp and dealing with incompetant doctors I had many many bad days. Sometimes the choices we have absolutely suck...but we have to make them and figure out what we need to do to make it through. We're here for you...so vent away whenever you need to. I know I personally found it very therapudic to even just type out my thoughts...helped me organize things in my mind and make some tough decisions. Take care.

For me, I had a trimaellor fracture of the right ankle with a spiral fracture of the fibula. Plates and screws placed and put in cast. As I look back, I remember the cast really hurt the top of my foot. Felt like it was rubbing it raw, but when they took the cast off everything looked ok, except the color was black and blue.
I told the physician for months something was not right I hurt so bad, but he refused to send me any where else or listen to my complaint.

After 6 months he said, "I don't know what to tell you, so I am referring you to someone else." That was 2 years Jan. and I never heard from his office again nor did they ever refer me.

I also was told malpractice is to hard to prove. My big thing is he should have known from my complaints that I had rsd and failed to refer me. So I know you are ****** off and upset. Unfortunately, as you can see on here, we are not alone.

ya it sucks! is a understatement. Im seeing lubenow for a doctor now. he is putting me in the hospital for a week in the middle of next month. having a week long epideral. hoping to get some movement working in my hand that I have lost. Anyone else done this?

I can honestly say that I have never heard of that. I have heard good things about lubenow though so maybe one of his other patients would know about this procedure. From everything I have heard, you are in pretty good hands with him. Good luck and I hope that this helps you.

me .. I went to hosp. with this accident but had no pulse in right leg, and it was black and as cold as the ice i slipped on. they took an x ray. (packed it in ice) gave me script for pain killers. and put me on crutches and sent me on my way. no answer as to why i had no pulse in foot and why it was frozen.. I followed up with my ortho. who immediately got me into vasc surgeon. where he gave me a sono. and low and behold I had a clot from the accident. and it was about 2 inches long. I could have lost the leg, it could have traveled to my heart and killed me. and that would be that.. but because it didn't happen the atty,s see no law suit they can file.... ..HUH?????... we just don't have a lot of doctors that care enough any more and that sucks and for some odd reason. they make mistakes (don't make amends) and the law backs them. why? to avoid people who try to sue for a living... .. my heart goes out to you and well every one with similar stories.. I pray for good results for you all
