Does anyone else have a feel like there knuckles are little balls of fire? Oh my goodness, my knuckles are always killing me. Not to mention the rest of my arm. I have gotten to the point where i cant move my fingers in my rsd hand now due to the stiffness, and my knuckles are always swollen and red.
I just didnt know if i was the only one ![]() |

You're not the only one. I have RSD in my left hand/wrist, and my hand is discolored, shiny, swollen, and painful. Oh and sorta deformed. Most of the burning, scraping pain is in my thumb area, but the other fingers are very painful as well. They had to remove the nerves in my wrist, plus I've had it for over 5 years, so it varies how bad the burning is. It's extremely sensitive to the sun. I had to have my wedding ring sized for my right hand because I have been unable to wear it on the left hand since onset.

i am currently only on Lyrica and Amitryptelene. I am trying to not use any opioid's. but everyday i feel worse, and the pain is started to take its toll. I am also young and i just got diagnosed.(all though ive dealt with it for many months) so i dont have a lot to offer, i wish i did. But i am here if you need someone. I have yet to get the burning to completely go away, i was able to use a tens unit for a while but now, my arm is too sensitive. A moist heat pack helps me gets some relief in overall pain, but does not get rid of it. Physical Therapy was gruesome but it did help with ROM, Pain not so much. Many happy thoughts sent your way! oh and also,I will say my doctor always says, to pump my hand (flat and then into a fist) periodically through the day. I cant no longer do that but i do wiggle my fingers as much as i can. |

Yes, pumping the hand can help, just don't try to go too fast, and pay attention to your pain levels. Remember that your body is going to feel the pain as much or more than your mind will. I made that mistake when I doing therapy after the nerves in my wrist were removed. I was trying to regain some movement in my wrist, so I was moving it (ever so slightly) back and forth thinking 'wow this doesn't hurt.' Until I almost passed out and puked at the same time! I told my therapist about it the next day and she said, "Well your body is still feeling the pain, Silly, don't do that!" So yes, lesson learned...pay attention to what your body is telling you.
