Hi Everyone I am a new member and I am looking for any info for my boyfriend (he is 60 and I am 65, lol) who has had RSDS since 2007 after a work related accident. I wanted to see if anyone else has had trouble with blackouts with RSDS. He just had a single car accident and he doesn't remember anything about it. The last thing he remembered was driving down the road then nothing til emts got there then he kept asking where he was even after he was at hospital. Please let me know if anyone out there has had dizziness or blackouts with this condition. Thanks for any info and God Bless

Yes, dizziness, nearly passing out and passing out is a common occurrence with CRPS/RSD. I pass out all the time. There is usually a dysautonomia associated with RSD that causes this but also a distinct condition called POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) that about 10% (?) of CRPS patients have. I have this. I've only blacked out one time while driving though.

I go through black outs I could just be walking and I just go out and I fall straight backwards. And there are so many things I don't remember like one time I went into get my meds and found I had a whole new filled bottle and I asked my mom where they came from and she was like you don't remember we went to the doctor yesterday and he refilled your prescription and I couldn't remember anything. I have gotten to the point I don't remember full weeks, like we flew from Chicago back home to Alaska and on planes we found out I go into seizures and then blackout but then I don't remember getting off the plane staying 2 days at my grandparents and going home. The black outs scare me especially the falling cause some of the falls I remember the feeling of the fall. I cant go up escalators anymore because I have a fear of blacking out and falling backwards. I do POTS, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. An rsd doctor said POTS is common with it. I really cant believe in thinking back how many days and even weeks I don't remember. And the black outs my mom would try to catch me before I fell backward if she was behind me but she would fall catching me cause I am to heavy for her. I haven't blackout in about a year but it still scares me.

I agree with all here about blackouts. I have been getting them lately on a daily bases. Mine happen usually when I move to much (I peddle myself around in a wheelchair) or stand up fast to get something from a shelf, ect. First I feel flush then dizzy then blamo! Some of the times I'll miss my chair and end up hitting my tiled floor falling like a tree. Take it from me, it hurts! I've been dx since 2007 and i've been told these bouts of blackouts are common with CRPS. Best of luck... ![]()
