Again pain extreme today. Meds doing -0-, the oxycodone nor the Tramadol, or Lidocaine patches. It is accompanied by this god awful migraine, and it is getting harder and harder to type.......I have a Neurology appt tomorrow, the question is do I go to E.R. and get pain relief tonight, which is horrible timing and probably look really bad to the new doc ooorrr just "tough" it if I can.....

There is no shame in going to the ER. Let them think what theymay. The most important thing is you get some relief. If you feel that bad go. It's OK. I will be thinking about you. ginnie

I'm not ashamed to go, it's just I don't want it to interfere with future care plans. There is so my hysteria with pain patients being labeled as "drug-seekers".... Sometimes it's just so frustrating. And I DO have appt tomorrow, just trying to debate whether I CAN tough it out.....

Have you tried taking the oxycodone and the tramadol together? Have you tried taking a few ibuprophen on top of that? Can you sleep through it until tomorrow? I know what you mean about being labeled a drug seeker but when you are in pain isn't everyone a drug seeker? I mean really I think that is the dumbest thing. We have to feel like we are doing something wrong because we tell a doctor we are in pain. You know how it goes though. If you can I would try to tough it out because you are seeing a new doctor tomorrow. If you can't then just go and don't worry about it.
Hope you get feeling better soon. ![]() Brain

So I called both my doctors offices who help treat my RSD, they couldn't get me in to treat the flare and both advised me to go to E.R. for pain help. The DR there was an ***. He did help the pain, gave me dilaudid and valum? I never had valum before but it at least helped for the night. And I'm still in a lot of pain but not as much as last week. So both my doctors told me the E.R. could confirm with then I was a patient and they had referred me to ER if the Attending doc had any questions......The *** turns around and tells me I need to quit coming to ER or mu file will be "Red Flagged". I was so ******. I told him this was still pretty new and we haven't gotten it "under control" yet so to speak. I ended up filing a complaint with the Er manager the next day. As with BOTH my doctors recommendation it was absurd for him to say something like that. It wasn't like I just come in every week with no diagnosis......My doctor was fairly mad at that too. I'm calling back the hospital today to see if they talked to that doctor. We ALL have had this experience more than once I'm sure, but when your doctor TELL you to go, they have NO right to treat you like some sort of druggy......We should ALL file complaints when things like that happen, maybe they'll start treating us better rather than WORSE!

I just hate to hear that you were not treated well at the ER. There should be a hospital patient advocasy person. Complain loudly. Noone should be made to feel bad when they already feel bad. It isn't like you want to be there anyway. Not sure why this happens, but it does. I hope some person in the hospital can say they are sorry to you. I am in your corner. ginnie
