Default Hello, its been a while. What's going on with me.

I read your stories often, some cheer me up and my heart goes out for others. I used to post more, but the rsd is getting meaner and often stops me from doing much of the things I enjoy.

After my rsd started flaring every week, and I started getting blocks again. I had a block 6 weeks ago and the doc said he wanted to do them every two weeks to calm the rsd. It has been going STRONG for the last year. So I have the first block and it was good, it really helped. So the doc says I'll get another in two weeks. Yjey usually call on the day before the injection, but I heard nothing. Just before they were to close I called and asked if there was a problem because they hadn't called. They tell me I'm not on the list, and they cannot find any paperwork saying I was getting a block.

So, I call my docs office the next day (I was supposed to get the injection that day) and they found the papers, someone 'forgot' to take them over. So then they scheduled another block for the following week, and I get the block and it really helped. They tell me in 2 weeks I was to get another block. Believe it or not, the same thing happened with the papers not getting to the people who schedule blocks. So, no block. Frustrated, and my hand going into fits I called and asked could they please get me in soon. They said I could get a block on Friday. That was last week, Thursday they called and said my doc quit.

Now the clinic has scheduled me to meet another doc and they had the nerve to tell if I missed an appointment they would drop me. Very nicely I told them I should've dropped them twice for the same reason.

So anyway I go to them on Friday this week and see what happens.

The first block worked great, but the aggravation and pain got increasingly worse. Now, I am in even more pain wondering why I even bothered.

I have a question for those receiving blocks, they should be constant I've been told, but I seemed to have gotten worse with the 2 out of 5 blocks that I received. I am thinking its worse because when I get upset and/or angry my rsd flares like crazy. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Hi Kathy,

Can't help on the blocks - but it's just great to see you posting again! Sorry to hear of the progress, though, hope someone can help. It's also very good to hear you are still doing wonderful carvings, you are so good at it. they are really lovely! It must take so much out of you physically too, though the mental gain I know is enormous....anyway, welcome back!! (We missed you...)

all the best

Hi Kathy! Nice to meet ya! It seems when us folks whith RSD get anxious, mad , upset.. it sets our RSD off worse. my pain doc. said this is very common. I do my best to stay calm most days, but there are more days that I'm not. It is hard not to be upset and mad and in pain when we have this pain! I wish you the best. sorry your having problems. Love, Desi

Default Kathy!

Glad to see you post!!!

Was wondering about how your doin. The last time you posted things were not going so well.

Man the staff of doctors are horrible for me too.
Got jerked around at every turn by my doctors staff just to have her drop me as a patient in the end. Then this week I go to a clinic that I was sent to by the ER, and was turned away because the insurance they knew I didnt have was a problem all of a sudden. They told me I didnt need any, and they were going to help me get it.

Well once I got there they told me go get the insurance first, and then told me that because I didnt have it yet it is too late to see them that day. Pretty funny since they cut me off, and then found out I shouldnt have been, and now are fighting to keep me off of it. The next appointment for the clinic is in mid july! I could die from pain by then

LOL!

I hope everything gets on the even keel with ya, and they quit losing the paper work. Tell them the next time you wil pin it on their foreheads lol.

Really is good to see you!

I had my block done (first block) one week ago wednesday. I went down to a 2 - it was GREAT. Then I went to the ER for vertigo, and the ER doc set me off to a 5 and now when I flare it isn't below a 5. I am getting jerked around by the PM doctors staff. If I call to leave a message for the doc about my problems, the nurse calls me back and upsets me so I flare up due to being upset. Then another nurse calls and says ok, what is going on, I tell her all my new problems and she seems sincere - we'll see. This was all just last night.

Not sure what will happen now.

I was not scheduled for a SERIES of blocks. I have heard that if done in series they should help. Not always though depending on how long you have had it, how bad it is, how widespread it is, etc.

Good luck.

(I have Kaiser, so I don't have much of a choice. Hopefully you do.)

Default Good to see your post...

Kathy,

It was such a pleasure to see you post again. I've thought of you from time to time and wondered how you are doing.

Your carvings are lovely and I especially liked the Elk and the Dolphin.

Take care & stay in touch.

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for the update. Sorry you are having a tough time.

What happened with me is that the blocks stopped working and after years of living in pain, knowing I wasn't getting better, but worse, I've decided to go for the intrathecal pump.
I joined their ppump forum and people love their pumps even if they've had problems with things like fluid retention or pinched tubing.

I'm looking forward to using my hands and feet again.
I wish you relief and the best always.
Hope
